GreenAdder: I like Kevin Smith, but I believe constant marijuana use has addled his sensibilities. He's now the equivalent of that kid who constantly tells you all the cool stuff he's going to do, but never actually does any of it. He used to be the guy who did the stuff.KS: "I'm going to make a hockey movie called 'Hit Something.'"Me: Sounds cool, Kev. When is that coming out?KS. "Well, now it's going to be two movies because I wrote so much."Me: Two hockey movies? Sure. Let's go. When do they get released?KS: "Um... it's a TV miniseries now."Me: Ohhhh...kay.... So what about your big final movie you're going to release?KS: "I've decided I want to make 'Clerks III.' That will be my last one."Me: Sure. Wonderful. If you get it out by the end of 2014, that'll be like 20 years of View Askew. So when are you...KS: "Oh. It's a book now."Me: I guess I'll read a "Clerks" book. I suppose. Maybe. When does that get released?KS: "Oh, I'm just gonna release it like one chapter at a time. Kind of like a blog. I mean, who has time to write a whole book all at once? Or film a movie, you know?"Me: What do you mean, "who has time?" That's what you do for a living. What have you been doing instead?KS: "Well, there's my Smodcast, and my blogs, and my weed, and my speaking engagements, and the fact that I do a Reddit AMA thread like once a week anymore, and my weed..."
Mugato: I like his Jersey "Trilogy" but he seems like a real choad. He always complains that everyone he works with hates him without it occurring to him that it might be him. And Clerks would be a youtube video nowadays. Talk about right place, right time.

Talk about right place, right time.did you listen to the adam carolla podcast from about a year ago, where they tried to hash out their dustup? it was pretty interesting.i think KS was largely right but carolla refuses to acknowledge it. perhaps because he lost, from what he says, i think $250K for the show/series. and carolla seemed to hinging his argument on, "i don't email, you should know that, everyone knows that, you should have known i don't communicate that way" when basically, THE WHOLE DAMN WORLD USES EMAIL. so i think KS was more right but not entirely blameless.anywyas.
John Redcorn: Only old people use email and phone calls. Hip young people text and facebook.
Wadded Beef: I like Kevin Smith, but he's better as an orator and pop-culture commentator than film director. His couple of decent titles are outweighed (pun!) by some reeeeeal stinkers. You all know which ones I'm talking about.

John Redcorn: He fat.
Dead for Tax Reasons: What's the next one gonna be? Dante and randall in an retirement home, with jay and silent bob selling medical marijuana for cataracts?
Dwight_Yeast: Mugato: I like his Jersey "Trilogy" but he seems like a real choad. He always complains that everyone he works with hates him without it occurring to him that it might be him. And Clerks would be a youtube video nowadays. Talk about right place, right time.No, there are a lot of people who've worked with him who he likes (Like Ben Affleck), and he's never had anything bad to say about Jennifer Lopez, which is unusual. The people he complains about (Bruce Willis) are people who are renown for being "difficult" unless managed and dominated by a strong-willed director, which Kevin is not.
cabbyman: Newsflash: Clerks sucked and was boring
Mugato: He and Aflleck were friends before either of them had careers.
germ78: Dead for Tax Reasons: What's the next one gonna be? Dante and randall in an retirement home, with jay and silent bob selling medical marijuana for cataracts?I would think that Dante, Randall, Jay & Silent Bob all show up one day at Quick Stop/RST Video and find their 22 year old dopplegangers where they used to be would be a good jumping off point for a third Clerks.
thesharkman: And if there's another Clerks movie, can we get more of this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LtE6kxgV3XE
TheManofPA: Go in a complete opposite direction. Sell it as a comedy but when you show up, Dante is unemployeed and Randall is the 10 dollar/hour prick manager of the video store who won't let the young kid do what he wants
Adolph Oliver Bush: cabbyman: Newsflash: Clerks sucked and was boringNot enough explosions and male grunting for you, chief?
Jabberocknroll: While I enjoy his Hollywood Babble-On podcast, mostly for Ralph Garman, the dude can drag out an advertisement to 7 freaking minutes. I'm pretty sure when these companies pay to be promoted on podcasts, they get like 30 seconds to 1 minute (see Adam Carolla; unless DAG is on then the ad takes 10 minutes).It's not a big deal, but I'm pretty sure the weed doesn't lend itself to temporal awareness.
JimmyFartpants: cabbyman: Newsflash: Clerks sucked and was boringI just watched it again for the first time in year, and yeah it's a terrible movie.I forgot how phony and forced the dialog was in that pile of crap;
alwaysjaded: What a fantastic idea! If there's one thing I've learned over the years on the internet, it's that everyone will always come to a solid agreement about how good or bad a movie is and what direction a movie should or should've gone. They should do that for the next Star Wars. Nothing but rational agreement, all around.I'm jealous of Smith. Wish someone would pay me a good amount of money just to shove a microphone in front of my mouth and let me just ramble on about whatever topic pops up.
DarkSoulNoHope: Knowing Kevin, he'll probably complain that everyone isn't going his way on the writing choices! As far as I have seen him, he doesn't take too well to people telling him his films are bad (plus his veiled threat towards internet reviewers that was shown at the end of Jay and Silent Bob Strikes Back), which makes me wonder how badly he'll react to any criticism of the book series he plans on writing.
