And they would be pumping even more oil if it wasn't for Obama's War on Coal!

Good. I'm tired of my 200 dollar royalty checks. It was 1000 a month a few years ago. Cmon Texas tea!!!

So does that mean gas prices are going down? No? Then I don't really give a fark.

But I was assured that the oil industry in the US has collapsed in the US due to Obama's outlawing of all fossil fuel production and mandating gay marriage for all oil field workers.

If you're asking about lower gas prices, that's true.

If you're asking about jobs, it's booming and it's your own fault for not taking petroleum engineering in college.

Sergeant Grumbles: If you're asking about lower gas prices, that's true.

The only reason this oil is being produced now as opposed to 20, 50, or 100 years ago is that it's only economical to do so at the current prices.  Will help on the foreign dependence thing, but not going to lower prices.

So you are saying that my degree in Albino Albanian Dwarfism won't help me get a job there?

Don't need a college edumacation to shove pipe down a hole.

So why I am at nearly four bucks a gallon?

This is another reason the Keystone XL pipeline is needed to export oil out of this country even more than ever.  The glut of oil is starting to lower crude prices in the midwest, and we can't have that now, can we?

So Texas should also ban women from owning guns and driving? That's not a bad idea considering the demographics on Fark would support these initiatives!

True enough, but why have prices at the pump jumped .25/gal over the last few days?  The added supply should at least keep prices stable - unless, of course, it's a matter of the current producers grabbing every dime they can before the price stabilizes too far.

The new oil reserves being tapped are only economical to drill when oil is at least as expensive as it is now.

Because oil is a global product. Oil is $90 a barrel everywhere, not $70 in Iraq and $100 in great Britian.

So. Just because you live next to a refinery doesn't mean you'll pay less. The of production has been averaged in from all oil sources to your tank.

For the most part, that's true... However, there's been a great deal of reanalysis of seismic data which is showing that some formations previously identified as salt-water aquifers are, in fact, oil bearing.

Combined with how fracing is revolutionizing the industry, you're looking at a serious, long term production boom.

Is it coal now?  I thought it was all those oil leases on public lands that were way way down causing socialized Sharia law to break out in the gay forced abortion centers or something.

The media assures me that Obama hates oil.  Or at least they used to.

I clicked hoping to read about an increase in the Muslim population in Texas or the House of Saud buying up property.

Um... no.  The Keystone XL pipeline will go the other way, Texas refineries will process Canadian shale oil into usable petroleum products.

Are you ignorant or trolling?

The whole point of the Keystone Pipeline, according to Transcanada, owner of the pipeline, is so they can export oil out of Texas without having to pay taxes/fees/royalties.  See, there's a nice loophole (I wonder how THAT got in there) that if they process it in Texas and load it on a ship immediately, the oil/gas was never in the US and they don't have to pay any money to the government on it, as long as they promise to take it overseas and never sell it to Americans.

Good lord, Hollywood was cranking out Texas oil drama movies before Americans ever heard of the big beach on the other side of the globe. Even the big Queen John Wayne got off his horse and put out the big fires in a flick. Actually, a lot of Hollywood Queens were in Texan oil movies. Food for thought.

.. does this mean Fark is going to start the counter back up again?

Although going to college tends to give you superb opportunities to shove a pipe down a hole.

The steers don't milk themselves, you know.

It's not the oil supply that's causing the gas prices, it's the refinery shutdowns that have occurred to inflate gas prices artificially.
