(Buzzfeed)   There's a lot to mock about the 80s, but it truly was the Golden Age of the morning breakfast cereal   (buzzfeed.com) divider line 113

jigger: I got laid in high school because of Croonchy Stars, and I'm not making that up.

That would have been one hell of an add campaign / T-Shirt promotion.

Mom only allowed Wheaties, Cheerios, Rice Crispies, and Total.  The occasional "junky" cereals I could get were Life and Cap'n Crunch Peanut Butter (which was hell on the roof of my mouth.)  Visiting the Grandparents in FL one spring vacation Gram took me shopping and let me pick my cereal.  I picked Kaboom!  Every color in the rainbow in smiling faces and a big ole clown on the box.

About 10 years ago, I was wandering down the cereal aisle and I saw boxes of Kaboom on the shelves. I hadn't had any of it since I was about five years old(in other words, about 25 years, at the time). I grabbed a box for old times sake and raced home to have a bowl.

I was disappointed to say the least. Let's just say the memory of eating them in the past was a LOT better than actually eating them in the present.

Ralston would apparently license anything into a cereal.

/my parents would not allow sugary cereals, so I don't remember most of these.  They would buy wheetabix, which is an even worse shredded wheat.

It's the way your palette changes as you age.  When you were a kid, your fantasy was to have enough money to buy every candy bar on the shelf.  As an adult, the idea of eating two candy bars back to back is probably pretty gross, unless you're used to over eating.  And savory things that kids hate are suddenly delicious.
