Nogale: My parents refused to buy sugary cereals. We had to make do with plain Cheerios or Wheaties, or GrapeNuts. Sleeping over at friends' houses was always a treat - Fruit Loops for breakfast!

same. Golden grahams were the sugariest I could get Mom to buy. I still love them. Not long ago, my husband found out that I'd never had Fruity Pebbles and he immediately dropped everything and ran to the supermarket to get them. I still like Golden Grahams better.

I ate most of those. Smurfberry Crunch and Croonchy Stars were the best. The latter was Cinammon Toast Crunch in a different shape.

70s were definitely better. Just a bowl of Little Chocolate Donuts and a cig', and you were ready to win a gold medal in the Decathlon.

I remember that Dunkin Donuts cereal. I loved it. I used to eat it at my grandpa's house. I can still vividly recall the taste and texture of it. It was de-farking-licious. I would easily pay fifty dollars for a bowl of it today.

spentshells: I've eaten better than half of those. Never had croonchy stars after seeing it, my 80's breakfast lineup seems incomplete, c3po was lame tasting but I had to have it when I was 4 or 5 or 6.

pacman cereal however was excellent and part of a nutritious breakfast but only if you left it on the table beside the mini wheats and orange slices. Unfortunately due to pacman cereal I now have a sick obsession with lucky charms, in the morning I can eat a days worth of calories in one sitting.

Now that I have my own kids I only get the shiatty cereal around the marshmellows

Boo-berry was my go-to cereal in the 80's. Back then you could get it anytime; now it's a seasonal thing. Next Halloween, I'll have to pick up a few boxes.

I was quite aware of that fact even at a young age, I just didn't care when it was one I liked. Most of their cereals were pretty much the same stuff in different shapes, sometimes with some fruit flavoring, and a licensed property on the box.

S'mores Crunch wasn't just my favorite cereal, it was my favorite FOOD.

I scrolled through that whole list of 25 boxes, waiting for it to show up... and finally, there it was, #25. BEHOLD. I guess I could take some dried marshmallows out of cocoa packs and mix 'em in with some Golden Grahams, but it just wouldn't be the same.

Also, anyone remember King Vitamin? It was to Cap'n Crunch what Dr. Pepper is to Coke. Perfect analogy.

Yup. The cereals I remember craving as a kid are Quisp, Quake, Cap'n Crunch, Frosty O's and Puffa Puffa Rice. Unfortunately, most of the time Dad bought me & my brothers Malt-O-Meal, Kix, and Cheerios.

What they sell as Cookie Crisp now is an abomination in comparison.

This cereal is probably why my teeth are jagged and crooked to this day. Maybe it was because I couldn't bother to wait for the cookies to get soggy. Maybe it was because I could, and would, eat three or four bowls in one sitting. Sadly, we will never know, for the limitations time has placed on such a study.

Cookie Crisp fo' life, yo! That was one of the highlights of the foster home. (Long story.) I thought it was some kind of fake. This counts as breakfast? But it's a bowl full of cookies.

That was when I finally understood the whole "part of a balanced/complete breakfast" thing. Breakfast doesn't need cereal to be balanced or complete.

Apparently, she cared about her kids not eating a bowl full of milk and sugar for breakfast. I thought she was so oppressive, with all that conscientiousness.

Captain Razorblade is delicious if you leave it soaking in milk for a while before eating. Otherwise, you have a roghed up hard palate by the time you finish eating it. I never dug the offshoots. No love here.
