"To Protect and Serve"?  Huh.  I wonder what it would take to truly root out the bad apples.  Double the pay, raise the admission standards drastically, and fire the ones that don't fit the bill with no more union protection of the ones that need to go?

You're allowed to set fire to them. Or someone who looks like them.

Well, it'd help if they stopped rejecting candidates for being TOO intelligent... (unrelated auto-playing video on that article; WTF ABC?)

the good guys get fired for whistle-blowing.
the bad guys keep their jobs even when they fire on little old latinas.
and segments of the population don't care about good or bad apples,
just as long as someone takes their call about a suspicious black man
(who turns out to be the chief of police in an unmarked car).

/more off topic: the guy demanding his $1mill was on a friendly first name basis with his local cops

The Miami Beach cops always seem to be up with something, Last year one of them drove a police car on the beach while drunk and struck someone.

They give LAPD a run for their money in terms of being corrupt.

The silver lining for that guy is that he's not working for the City of New London.

In all seriousness, though, New London probably was discriminating against him.  Not because he was smart, because he was a 45 year-old guy looking for an entry-level police job.

I figured out a true test for psychopathy:

1) Are you now or have you ever been a law enforcement officer?

I wonder if the dad the article referred to is that Navarro. It said he was a retired oolice commander. If so, lol.

I was pressed into service as a bording officer while serving in the US Coast Guard. I did have the option of accepting a less than honorable discharge. I chose the former and acted as a maritime LEO for a couple years. By you definition, that makes me a psychopath.

Huh, who knew?

According to the article, he kept screwing up the drug deals and smuggling attempts by going to the wrong apartment/house/city, so I imagine it would probably be like Scarface meets Benny Hill.
