omeganuepsilon: Der Poopflinger: if some dude can't be with you because of your pussy, then forget that guy and move on to some one who's less of a douche bag

I would wager large sums of money that guys do not leave because of the bits, but it's an out the door comment to make them feel bad, and women buy it hook line and sinker.

To clarify, they are hateful words, no doubt, but often said in the heat of an argument and are either fabricated or blown out of proportion(no pun intended) "reasons" that he is leaving.  It's even possible the woman was at fault, but not owning up to her biatchiness(which may or may not have been reinforced by extreme feminism). Frustrated, the guy wants to get to her in an off-beat way that she's not been taught to live in willful ignorance of.

I will take that concept even further.

People who go on about this liberal cause(that is not exactly as it sounds in reality) are perpetuating the issue, actually teaching the issue as fact, and that may make more women even more insecure and tempted to get it done. IE   Men really will dump you because of your ugly lips, don't you dare fix it!

As is often the case, your more extreme feminists actually propagate more of the types of women that they are supposedly working to free.

I'm all for equal rights, equal pay, equal treatment, etc.  Don't get me wrong here.  I'm not being snarky with "(which may or may not have been reinforced by extreme feminism) "  I'm stating that that can be a cause of broken reasoning, not that it always results in such.  Every movement has it's flawed extremes.

Both sexes have their fair share of assholes, so maybe it's wise not to listen to those folks with motive to say things about the opposite sex that may not be at all true, or are true but only in a minority of them.

Yes, it is possible to have a set of lips that is repulsive, but statistically that's such a minute segment of the populace you really shouldn't worry about it.  Men leaving specifically because of it is an even smaller part of the populace, and those men you'd be better off without in the first place.

But for the sake of your own peace of mind, compare it to others.  It is not a subjective thing.  Any inherent ugliness is a very objective thing.  Look at yours, then look at a plethora of others, the internet is happy to oblige.  Unless you have a distaste for pussy so strong that they all disgust you, you will be able to make your own informed choice of how you want to look, or if you're the extreme outlier.  Only then contemplate a decision for change.

No different than picking a perfume or clothes or hairstyle you like, which is what most of us do, not one that others like(but we find distasteful).

Be what YOU want to be, not what others tell you to be. (unless you want to be what amounts to a dirty bum on the street, in which case, seek help)

rocky_howard: How much you wanna bet most of these protesters have piercings and/or tattoos.

This is why I can never take these people seriously.

One body modification is fine but another is completely wrong just because it falls on the opposite sociopolitical spectrum?

Not that conservatives are any better. I despise "tradition" as much as you can despise something.

Dude, you do know that for the most part "tradition" came about because there was a need for something. People didn't generally create traditions for no reason. Yes, there are some that are batshiat nutso. But then there are ones like medicine. You know, a lot of the folk remedies that work became traditions because... they work. In fact frequently if you just discard traditions because you don't understand them... you are frequently throwing away valuable things.

Take honey in wounds for example. http://www.medicinenet.com/script/main/art.asp?articlekey=50608  For centuries people would pack wounds with honey because it was a traditional remedy for a deep or life threatening wound. Then modern western medicine said "we see no value for this because we can't explain why it works. So we're discarding this tradition. And our more costly antibiotic dressings are better... ummm sometimes."  Recently it's been re-discovered as a treatment because of research into old TRADITIONAL practices. They found that honey in wounds can speed healing, remove the need for antibiotics, or even cure wounds that modern treatments can't. Why? Well, they're still trying to figure it out, but so far they've found that in part it's because the honey forms a sterile environment. Bacteria simply can't live in the ridiculously high sugar content of honey, also the honey releases minute and consistent amounts of hydrogen peroxide into the wound as well as proteins that have been found to speed healing and promote good tissue growth.

But because people threw out a tradition that they didn't take the time to consider for value who knows how many people have suffered. All because of wanton and thoughtless abandonment of tradition without first examining whether it has true value or not.

Just saying, man. Not all traditions are bad things. If you lump everything into one and say all traditions are bad... you're just as bad at the people that hang on to the batshiat insane traditions without thinking about it. (IE genital mutilation for religion... a more batshiat insane tradition I can't think of right now)

Lionel Mandrake: Another worries that she's lost lovers in the past because "they all thought my vagina was weird."

Stop having sex with assholes.

I don't see having a preference as being an "asshole", it is just a preference.  Many (MANY) women refuse to even go on a first date with a man who is short or losing his hair, etc (physical characteristics over which the man has little to no control).  I really don't see this as any different.  Hooray for empowerment and all that, but lets not pretend women, all of them, don't have physical standards also.

2013-02-17 01:33:55 PM
Does everything a woman does, says, or thinks require an empowering movement behind it?

Can I get in on that action? Here are some proposals:

Shoulder and back hair - it's entirely natural, and yet men are forced to shave or remove it on a regular basis or risk ridicule by "men's magazines", such as Men's Life. I'm a friggin' silverback, and I find this attitude repulsive. I want to feel empowered, so I'm starting a web site named BeautifulBackFur.edu and doing my level best to reverse the horrifying trend of shame and secret pain among hairy-backed men everywhere.

Fat guys with outies - it's entirely natural, and yet men are forced to hide it on a regular basis or risk nauseating women & children on the beach. I'm an innie, but as a fat guy, I feel for them, and I find the attitude repulsive. I want them to feel empowered, so I'm starting a web site called BalloonBellies.edu and doing my level best to reverse the horrifying trend of shame and secret pain among fat guys with knobs where a normal belly button should be.

Unibrows - it's entirely natural, and yet men are forced to pluck and wax it on a regular basis or risk confusing school children at the Museum of Natural History. I have two separate eyebrows, but as a silverback, I feel for their hair-related pain, and I find the attitude repulsive. I want them to feel empowered, so I'm starting a web site called ForeheadBumper.edu and doing my level best to reverse the horrifying trend of shame and secret pain among neo-Neanderthals everywhere.

Also, I'm not sure I buy the "it's porn's fault" angle.  I've seen enough commercial porn to say without any doubt that many of the more popular models with name recognition and long careers have huge protruding labia.

The whole kneejerk blame it on porn thing is a really lame angle to take.  It's an appeal to the oversensitive PC crowd and feminized men afraid of porn, and makes this empowerment movement lose what little sympathy it may have otherwise had.

2013-02-17 02:02:51 PM
I think the whole thing is overblown. I went and looked at some web sites and we're talking a couple thousand (tops) getting the procedure out of hundreds of millions of women. The reason why people are so aware of it is that it's a titillating, sexy and naughty oddball procedure and the media want ad clicks.

Men who talk about ugly labia on the internet are the same guys who talk smack about some model's fat knees. Women who get these surgeries either have a rare condition that makes it a good idea or who have body image issues.

I keep seeing "a threefold increase since 2006" where 2006 had 1300 procedures. The upsurge is, no doubt, due to the media drumming about labiaplasty (ooh naughty bits!) and the rare oddball male who thinks the way to dominate a woman is to make her feel bad about something he wants very badly.

This.  I think it's centered on a whole misconception about what men like to see and where they like to see it, the whole studman 69 joke.

I am only slightly picky about my women in the most general sense, if it's pretty and nice, that's fine.  I don't have high standards at all, just hat I find her attractive to my tastes. Taller/shorter/thinner/thicker/lighter/darker etc, I don't care if they vary from any concievable ideal, only that there be an attraction(and subsequently a compatible attitude/personality).

Porn video's, the standard changes, because the purpose is different.  Everyone has their favorite kinks, or positions.  Many porn stars don't exude sensual qualities even if they've got a fit body type, they're clumsy and fake-ish. I am more about body and face and performance, and don't give a rat's ass about personality.   I care less for body details, but how well the body at large performs.

Pictures, and that standard rises even more.   Pictures, to me, need to be balanced and pretty on par with art.  If it's not exceptional, it's not worth looking at for long, or looking at again.

But in both categories of porn, I see verybeautiful women with all sorts of labia and it doesn't detract of them at all.  There is no majority there, so the idea that porn as such influences behavior and desires in that arena, are well....that person doesn't see much porn.
I will admit, when the lips are THE focus, as with photography, there are certain things people find moreaesthetically pleasing(and will carry a majority), but that is more or less irrelevant.  In the case of photography, it's a study of shape and form.

Now, this movement as described, it takes man's focus on one, and misapplies it to the other, in practice blaming men for having too high a standard, when that's not the case at all.  We differentiate based on the purpose of the vista in question(except for the mentally ill or otherwise fixated).

_______________
I do find the "Large labia project" from the article highly amusing.

Here we have a person who set up a blog and gets tons of pictures sent to her, who shamelessly praises all sorts of pictures. (I'm a guy, of course I stopped over and had a look at a page or ten!)

It's like a VIE dream come true(for people that are into that), which makes me question motives of the author a smidge.  It's passed off as a liberating and helpful website done just for the charity of it all, but it comes off as more of an altogether different and somewhat sleezy thing.  Someone who loves, LOVES, all pussy and solicits pictures from women who normally wouldn't send such things, in effect manipulating or even preying upon them.

Wouldn't surprise me if the site host is actually a guy, and one that buys lotion and kleenex in bulk.

The best part is the "silverback" bit. Might I suggest the outies are called "love nubs"? Got nothing for unibrows.

And for gods sake, women, if you have some mutant vagina, and you can get it fixed without going through female circumcision or something, do it. Be glad you can do it. There's nothing more empowering than making yourself more attractive.
