And 34 of them were captured/killed by 4 of the prize winners alone, leaving 34 for the other 1596 hunters. LOL Florida.

1600 registered contestants got 68 pythons over the course of a month, which is about the number of eggs a single mature Burmese python lays in a clutch. And with $1000+ prizes for snakes that cost $20 at reptile shows, it makes you wonder if all those turned in were wild.
