(New York Daily News)   Turns out former Congressman Jessie Jackson Jr. did not win the Lotto, instead he used $750,000 in campaign funds to buy that $43,000 gold Rolex watch and spent $4,600 on a fedora (that's a hat for those of you in Indiana) worn by Michael Jackson   (nydailynews.com) divider line 13

Bless the New York Times euphemism machine.

When it's the Jacksons being corrupt, well...they call that  struggles. Partisan turd-polishers, read the article because it's a sterling example of the craft.

You know what would stop this? If an office-holder gets popped for corruption, the seat goes to a member of the opposite party (assuming the usual two-party duopoly), and that party will hold the seat with all elections for that seat cancelled until the next decennial redistricting. If the constituents of Jackson's district don't want to do their legwork and keep voting in a corrupt dipshiat, and don't understand the concept of having a party primary to weed out the vermin, they can enjoy the services of some Michele Bachmann type and perhaps they'll learn from the experience and make their choice based on content of character rather than race-pimping skills.

Either that or the seat simply remains vacant until the next election. You knowingly voted for a crook? And now you want federal highway money? How about FARK YOU. You reap what you sow.

CSB: About six years ago I was represented by a Republican congressman who, it was revealed, liked to get drunk-n-slappy with his wife. Perhaps this next bit is difficult for kool-aid drinkers to grasp, but here's what I did - I voted for his Democratic challenger. She won. Life went on. Eventually she was kicked upstairs to the Senate, and now I once again have a Republican congressman, one who is much more of a grown-up. Turns out the system works - if you bother to use it, rather than falling into line behind your team.

Democrats are supposed to be smarter than their drooler opponents, so how come they circle the wagons around an obvious thief rather than choose somebody else?

When asked if Rep. Jackson's disappearance could have anything to do with an ongoing ethics investigation, Cleaver quickly said confidently, "No, no - I was talking to his wife... not true. And I know the whole family."

Seriously? Who believed that line of shiat?

Is it that difficult to find another liberal in his district, that Jackson had to be protected at such ridiculous lengths?

cchris_39: That's too bad.  The rumors of alcoholism/substance addiction have been out there awhile and it looks like he finally went off the deep end.  Hope he can pull himself together and start over.  Good luck to him and his family.

/but seriously, a cashmere cape?

Really? Good luck to him?  You hope he starts over?  Yeah, how about not?  We have enough politicians who are corrupt who get re-elected without actually hoping the corrupt ones will get re-elected.

fat_free: Jesse Sr.'s worst day was November 4, 2008, when Obama got elected and it took away the title of "America's Black Rep" from this dumb nig
htmare of a politician. When he realized the gravy train was over and that his race-card playing tactics were finally coming to a screeching halt, he had to grab everything he could. Hopefully he'll slink even deeper into the abyss.
