(New York Daily News)   Turns out former Congressman Jessie Jackson Jr. did not win the Lotto, instead he used $750,000 in campaign funds to buy that $43,000 gold Rolex watch and spent $4,600 on a fedora (that's a hat for those of you in Indiana) worn by Michael Jackson   (nydailynews.com) divider line 86

Ready-set: This is somehow white people's fault.

Well, there were corrupt white politicians in America long before there were corrupt black politicians. So I suppose there's that.

And because he is a Democrat he will get life in the electric chair.  If he was a Teapublican he would just be ignored because prosecution would be "Partisan".

Jesse Sr.'s worst day was November 4, 2008, when Obama got elected and it took away the title of "America's Black Rep" from this dumb nig
htmare of a politician. When he realized the gravy train was over and that his race-card playing tactics were finally coming to a screeching halt, he had to grab everything he could. Hopefully he'll slink even deeper into the abyss.

And he could still get re-elected by his dumbshiat constituency if he ran again.

cchris_39: That's too bad.  The rumors of alcoholism/substance addiction have been out there awhile and it looks like he finally went off the deep end.  Hope he can pull himself together and start over.  Good luck to him and his family.

/but seriously, a cashmere cape?

Really? Good luck to him?  You hope he starts over?  Yeah, how about not?  We have enough politicians who are corrupt who get re-elected without actually hoping the corrupt ones will get re-elected.

Don't Troll Me Bro!: astro716: Who spends $43k on a gold Rolex when you could have a nice Patek for that kind of money?

Never heard of Patek.  Google shop search first hit:

Buy from us! We charge $300,000 more than everyone else!!

ugh.. what an ugly watch.

I bet he still has black velvet paintings on his wall. Why can't people buy themselves some class?

He has definitely added to his street cred as an REAL African-American politician. Right, Dad?

Wow, that's an ugly watch. I have a hard time believing that's actually Patek Phillipe. They do some gimmicky complications, but most of it is classy and flashy only in price.

/Can't actually afford one, but i did visit their museum in Geneva

Ivo Shandor: quatchi: Who the hell wears watches anymore?

I do. When you spend every day surrounded by ever-cheapening disposable plastic gadgets, there's something refreshing about wearing a device that's able to keep reasonably-accurate time using only high-precision mechanical components.

Let's address that issue from the view point of someone who felt the way you did.  Taking inventory of my broken watch stable, I count one Breguet, one Rolex Sub and one Rolex gold day date, one JLC Master Control that runs about 5-7 minutes slow PER DAY, and a whole slew of other less 'pedigreed' watches that all have assorted issues.  Fixing these things runs $250-$500 PLUS the mfr. recommended bi-annual tune up @ $100-$150 plus 6-8 weeks down time.  FARK THAT!

Now when i want to know the time I check my cell phone or my mil-style Eco-Drive that cost $75.00

way to go, Jessie

no wonder you were 'sick' and had to leave your office.

your dad is so proud of you!!

Idiot.

2013-02-16 07:05:44 PM
The one thing that really concerns me is having a guy manage my money who feels that buying a watch that depreciates $20 Gs when he walks out of the store shows how he has "made it".

It would have been a different story if he had scored a few SS Daytonas.

How come you only got the caps right in the last sentence?

Well... One word, so "sentence".

At least you held off on the bold, this go 'round.

whither_apophis: TheEdibleSnuggie: whither_apophis: He should've created a PAC, gave the money to that, then moved that money to another account. tada!

That's called embezzlement with a dash of money laundering; which will earn you a spot in PMITA prison faster than you can count on Jesse Jackson, Sr. taking anything from 0 to full blown whackjob race-baiting.

http://www.colbertnation.com/the-colbert-report-videos/421160/novembe r -12-2012/colbert-super-pac-shh----secret-second-501c4---trevor-potter

The only hitch might be if you're not allowed to give campaign cash to a pac, but the pac to pac move is legal.

You can move it if you retire as a sitting rep with a reelction fund.

I feel sorry for Jesse Jackson Sr.  His idiot son has besmirched his good name.

I knew there was some shadiness when I heard JJ Jr was resigning due to 'heath reasons'.  Politician-ese for "I need to spend some time with my lawyers to prepare for these upcoming criminal charges I'll be faced with."

I care about watches. They are annoying to wear. They're there to signal to someone else that you're getting bored, or to show off as you ostentatiously "casually" check out the time.

Honestly, if I go that route I'll get a pocket watch, a top hat and a monacle. Two monacles, actually, since I have two bad eyes. Or maybe a monacle and an eye patch.

/I'll bet that most guys who wear watches wear suits regularly
//most guys don't wear suits anymore
///watches are formal fashion and we're a casual dress society these days

People like him seem to be doing a pretty good job of that themselves, so I see no need to go on a GOP-style pogrom. Last time Pelosi purged the Blue Dogs from our Party we lost the House. Fark that!

Not sure why you feel this is necessary? Don't know anyone, left or right, who considers Jackson worth the cup of gunpowder needed to blow his racist bigoted ass to hell.

"Over the course of my life I have come to realize that none of us are immune from our share of shortcomings and human frailties," Jackson said in a statement.

WTF, over!?  What's this "us" bullshiat?  I didn't commit fraud, YOU did.

"A man who cannot be enticed by money or intimidated by the threat of jail or death has two of the strongest weapons that anyone has to offer". - Jesse Jackson Sr.
