Looks like some of us are on our way to immortality

She has given up smoking in the past few weeks: TFA says because of her family's concern over "falling ash."  I wonder if it's because she's on oxygen therapy, and she was lighting up cigs inches away from a stream of pure oxygen.  I had a great aunt (well, not a *great* aunt, my grandmother's sister) who did that, and it was terrifying.

I feel sorry for Miss Clara, her friends and family couldn't even afford to get a bouquet with flowers.  It's all leaves and cut stems.

I'd get both of them in a pile.

Well I don't smoke but when I reach 110, I plan in telling the papers that my secret to long life is:
* Bacon
* Heavy cream in my coffee
* A glass of wine every day
* Daily sex with a sexy younger man

Seriously a life with those things is worth living past a 100!

;)

I have a few patients that would disagree with that comment, if they weren't six feet under.

I'd be fine with stopping that trend if "natural causes" were again popularly used to describe the deaths of older people who(were not killed by some outside force like a shooting or a really fast bus, etc).

The secret is genetics, if they would just test people who smoke and live a long life they could cure cancer.

2013-02-16 01:21:31 PM
And to think she foolishly threw away at least another 85 years by smoking

Phew! *Wipes sweat from forehead*

I was afraid she'd say the secret to living this long was sex, sex, and more sex.

This was my point.

Cause of death is attributed arbitrarily, and any and all science and procedure goes out the window, when "smoking" is written in on a vast majority of lung cancer deaths out of hand.

Worked in a coal mine, later in an asbestos factory, and then a foundry, and was a volunteer firefighter, but he smoked.  Must be the cigarettes!

But then the guy who had the same life, but didn't smoke, gets simply "lung cancer" on his death certificate...

Mrs Cowell, a former tailoress, lit her first cigarette in 1931, and has puffed her way through two or three a day since - a total of almost 60,000.

I'm no surgeon general but I would hazard a guess that smoking one or two a day would have less impact on health the the typical 'smoker' who lights up probably a lot more than that.

As a matter a fact she is definitely the exception. I am quite sure just a very few number of smokers only lights up one or two a day but I could be wrong.

Crap. This means my wife's gonna live to 200. And here I was hoping she'd succumb to liver failure in th enext ten years or so.

Wait...is Michelob Ultra considered "alcohol"?

Well I think I'm gonna try the Winston Churchill Diet, he had like what a litre of whisky and a litre of brandy a day plus 25 cigars a day, and lived into his 90s

well there is some evidence that in extremely small amounts(like less than 5 smokes a day) tobacco is actually increases your lifespan because nicotine is an anti inflamatory in reasonable doses which helps prevent hardening of the arteries(although at typical smokers levels it CAUSES hardening of the arteries) I guess it goes back to an old pharmacological saying, the difference in a medicine and a poison is in the dosage.

My mother-in-law quit smoking at 76 and then had 6 strokes and died.

I cannot recommend, but intuitively guess that lower-level daily anti-histamine usage (mostly for sleep, and for so many years i'm sure it's not dangerous out-right) might be of great assistance in a less disease ridden life. If I dont swear by it, I tend to believe in it.

Right with you, and I'm a guy.

However, it doesn't have to be poopy.  That's what enema's are for.  But that's a lot of work when there's a spot right next door that's well lubed, and there's always kegels for tightening.
There is a reason, however, for preferring to have it in the butt as well.  It's a stimulation of other sets of nerves which can also cause orgasm, or at least aid in reaching them, and that goes for both sexes.

Still, not something I'm into.  If I meet a chick that happens to know she likes it, then maybe, but it's not something I seek out.

ummmm, I can't answer your question because I'm really, really scared that the 96 in your screen name means you were born in 96, and are therefore under 18. So I'm just gonna duck out of this one....

I figure it's high school graduation.  That is the typical thing that people are commemorating when they create usernames as such.

I'll take that as a compliment.
