The whole Gluten Free thing can kiss my ass (seriously, unless you ACTUALLY have Celiac, go to hell), but quinoa is really tasty and useful for tons of cooking needs.

Since I have a superior digestive system I can just eat whatever farking grain I farking want to and not worry about gluten at all. This is a picture of me after eating some sliced gluten on gluten cakes with gluten sauce with a side of gluten:

You know what's delicious? A bowl of gluten, cooked in peanut oil, topped with sesame seeds and seasoned with MSG.

quinoa is delicious when seasoned / prepared properly.  It's a good protein supplement if you're trying to cut down on other steroid/antibiotic/preservative-laced sources of protein.  (Also, it doesn't have the same digestive after effects of other protein sources like legumes)

I love quinoa, other than it makes a bit of a mess when you cook it. It's faring delicious, hippy food or not.

My oldest friend was diagnosed with Celiac disease last year, and thank FSM.

His farts were legendary for their pungency. Eye-watering, nauseating pungency. The man once, and I am not exaggerating, cleared out three entire rows of a movie theater after an SBD release.

Then he got diagnosed a couple years ago, and the gluten-free diet instantly cleared the air around him. It was like throwing a switch.

Plus gluten filled foods actually taste good, AND they're lower in carbohydrates than the gluten-free alternatives.

Gluten is the glue that makes breads and stuff stick together.

I made the mistake of buying some gluten free wraps once (because they were out of regular wraps) and hell, my superior digestive system can eat anything, right?

Imagine my surprise when the zesty thai chicken goodness that I had cooked up breached the side of my gluten free wrap and plopped down onto my plate.

Gluten free wraps, you had one simple task to do and you failed at it miserably ... never again.

I've got some vegitarian, gluten free chorizo in the fridge left over for a vegan friend that never came to the party.  That crap looks like Alpo.

Uh, a number of the gluten-free people agree. Most celiacs I know fall into the "I would murder a baby if I could eat gluten without it causing my immune system to go berserk against my digestive tract" category.

We've got 3 generations of family with Non-celiac Gluten Sensitivity.  It shares some genetic markers with Celiac and may be part of a continuum of an autoimmune response to gluten and similar proteins.

NCGS is a lot more widespread than Celiac.

Actually, the gluten-free movement is good for people who ACTUALLY have Celiac. More manufacturers cashing in means more variety.

I'm not celiac but two people in my family have some kind of sensitivity to gluten, so we're all on either a gluten free or low-carb diet. I have to say, I've noticed a few things that have improved, likely skin...

But yeah it's hard to compete with thousands of years of culinary and cultivation history that makes wheat products so useful and successful ...

Quinoa is on the list of foods that I should be forbidden to eat.

I can eat it just fine, but other living things seem to have a problem with breathing, and complaining that somebody has soiled the air. All this useless whining, crying, sniffling, screaming, gurgling, and throwing up grows tiresome.

Quinoa, even in small amounts, produces dark matter flatulence. It is one of the many things that give me gas. Hell, damn near everything gives me gas.

Best quinoa I've ever had was in a place in Monterey CA, a long long long time ago, back in the early 90s I think. It was served in the fish tacos. It was a hot spicy mess of quinoa and fish bits, with cilantro and lime juice. So good. Never had anything quite like it since.

I suppose that's fair, at least it leads to some options for those who do need it.

After reading the comments on the blog, apparently , everyone that reads that site gets a reaction from the stuff. Even though the tests were performed in a lab, on two specific varieties of the grain. Not all of the people commenting were even valid celiac sufferers. They are self diagnosed. An interesting read for sure. My dad and his doctors can't figure out what he has wrong with his gut. Can't have anything derived from milk, period. No milk , cheese , anything like that. Also no onions or garlic now. They are running out of GI diseases and he's giving up.

The point of quinoa isnt that its gluten free, its that its a grain but is also a complete protein containing all 9 amino acids.

Looks like little condoms though.

It sticks to the pot and settles much more densly than rice does.
