I have helped my brother and friends coach different youth teams on and off over the years.  It is unreal how often this crap happens.

I stopped for a while because I thought I would end up getting into it in the parking lot a few times.

Most parents are great but that 5% that are too self absorbed and/or living too vicariously can get completely insane about the stupidest s#$%.   Its sad.

I'm sorry. I'd tell that voice-cracking asshole to set his kid down so he could make good on his toughness. Sure, it's wrong, and I'd like to be the better man, but it's in my DNA.

It's not a hit to the head because the kid is short, it's a hit to the head because he hit the kid in the head. That dad is so stereotypical, it's almost like he's playing a role in a movie. I feel bad for that stone-faced woman that likely is his wife.

I would have slapped that baby right out of his arms. Not so tough now? Are you.

But this is the only way cowards can react. Yeah, because the better thing to do would be to punch a man holding a baby over an argument you're not a part of.

This. There are times when a level-headed individual needs to step up and set an asshole straight by calmly addressing why they need to act their age. There are also times when the ensuing brawl will make national news.

I would suggest that a punch may only faze the guy for a few minutes and get you arrested.  Posting asshole-ish behavior on the internet, though, earns you widespread sympathy and will possibly ruin the other guy's life.  Recording his outburst was a brilliant move.  He's getting slammed on the internet, banned from the hockey games, and generally outed as a jerk to future employers.  Win/win.

Believe me this was the best thing that could have happened to her. If you are working at a pizza joint its generally not by choice. By him firing her it forced her to leave what is obviously a horrible working environment with an insufferable idiot of a boss. Lets just hope that wherever she landed after this was at least a slight improvement.

Plus she knows she did the right thing. EVERYONE knows it. She should proudly display that on her resume. I bet she would get a job just because of it.

I think this is my favorite thing about the advent of the internet: widespread shaming for the rest of your life if you're caught being a douchebag.

Here's to you Deadspin, and the rest of the internet vigilantes. Without you, this guy would never be exposed. But now he gets to look forward to years of being shunned by his local community, and hopefully lots and lots of stress in his work and home life after being asked on a daily basis, "Hey, aren't you the asshole that heckled that child? Fark off, midget."

It's just a small piece of justice, but justice nonetheless.

This. The commenter must know/be Jason Boyd to post this. The true coward is the one making threats while using a child as a human shield. The true tragedy here is that he managed to reproduce.

I thought of that at first as well, but the d-bag then goes on about "just because your kid is small" - i think he was using midget in terms of the kid being small and not talking about the level

//plus it seems that the other evidence is mounting up that the guy is just a loudmouth asshat and not much more

There is a pretty awesome response to it as well...
"What do you mean by "do something" UFCdad? Letting him know his actions would be reported and he better deescalate because there would be documentation of his aberrant behavior isn't enough? Maybe they could take it outside and settle it like "real men"... of course one would have to put down the baby and one the camera. After all that's what alpha's do right?
Real alpha's don't scream at children. Real alpha's are respected by men and wanted by women. The douchebag in this video is likely feared by his children, hated by his coworkers and cheated on by his wife. I hope his (and your) memories of high school football accolades are enough to propel you though the rest of your sad, violent and unenlightened life.
I pity you and the small world you live in."

I especially LOVE that sentence.

Judge rules man didn't assault police officer
Winnipeg Free Press
Sat Aug 5 2006
By Kevin Rollason

THE owner of a Selkirk pizzeria may have been a bully when he verbally berated an RCMP officer, but he's not guilty of an assault, a judge said this week.

Madam Justice Lea Duval of Manitoba Court of Queen's Bench did not believe Const. Dick Tremblay's testimony against Jason Boyd, so Boyd's lawyer has asked the Crown prosecutor's office to investigate whether perjury charges should be laid against the officer.

"We're tremendously pleased at the not-guilty verdict," defence lawyer Jamie Kagan said yesterday.
"We believed and have always believed the court would find Mr. Boyd not guilty. There was no contact.

"People should be allowed to complain about police officers."

RCMP spokesman Sgt. Steve Saunders said he wasn't in a position to comment on the matter because there could still be proceedings before the courts.

Saunders also said "there are no internal processes at this time."

Court was told Boyd yelled at Tremblay at a Selkirk gas station on Feb. 5, 2003, claiming the officer had barely missed a woman with a baby carriage while speeding through the streets of the community.  Tremblay had testified that he felt threatened because the physically larger Boyd was clenching his fists and telling him to come out of the cruiser to fight.

The officer also testified that the next day Boyd again verbally berated him while the officer was writing out a speeding ticket for a motorist.

But in a 20-page written decision, Duval said she believed another witness who said Boyd never clenched his fists or threatened to fight the officer.  And Duval said she doesn't believe the next-day incident even occurred because Boyd and his ex-wife were having lunch together after appearing in family court and speaking with their lawyers.

"Despite considering Mr. Boyd's conduct on Feb. 5, 2003, to be aggressive, belligerent, infantile, and totally inappropriate, I do not find that the offence has been proven," Duval said. Boyd has launched a lawsuit against the officer and the RCMP seeking both general and punitive damages for his mental anguish and public humiliation.

It's not the first time the alleged assault was before the courts.

Boyd was found guilty of assault by a Court of Queen's Bench judge in 2004, but the province's highest court, the Manitoba Court of Appeal, dismissed the conviction and ordered a new trial.

Kagan said he has asked the RCMP to remove Boyd's name from the nationwide police data system.
Court was told that three days after Boyd launched his appeal against the conviction, Tremblay himself added Boyd's name to the database as a designated "cop hater."

"It is horrible when you see the power of the police," Kagan said.

Ok the guy is an arsehole but where is the "threat?" The other father touched him supposedly--to which a case of assault could be made, and the arsehole with the baby warned him "If you touch me again I'll cave your glasses in." That's not a threat. That's a warning.

don't think so. in your scenario, he would have no need to single out the kid as a midget, as all players would be midgets. he wouldn't have said "hit that bantam" or "hit that junior"
