Well, there probably is a valid comparison to being stuck in the Superdome for several days without running water, basic sanitation, or more than a small amount of electricity.

At least no one has compared it to 9/11 or the Holocaust yet.

They were mildly uncomfortable for a few days at sea. Nobody died. They are back in port now.

White people problems. "Oh my god, Muffy, it was horrible. We had to poop in bags and they closed the buffet and we couldn't see any shows or gamble and the air conditioning was out and there was nothing to eat but baloney sandwiches for FIVE WHOLE DAYS! It was literally the end of the world!"

My husband and daughter are Katrina survivors.  I say survivors as they were stuck there for over a week, with my husband passing any food/water to the kids and almost dying in the process.

The comparison is offensive.

I wish I was on that ship. Just so I could tell everyone what it was really like.

2013-02-15 01:43:57 PM
I really don't understand what the passengers are complaining about.  Their ship was disabled by a fire, yet the weather was good, they didn't need to be evacuated, they were provided with what the crew could give them, and enough food and water to make it through without any serious hardships.   Yeah, it got stuffy on board.

I saw a couple of young women complaining about how it was the most awful thing in their lives, and I couldn't help but think to myself "What, you've never been camping?".

It could have been much, much, *MUCH* worse.  Stop whining.

You know, there is basic sanitation aboard every ship.  It's called "hang your ass over the rail and let fly".

There was no lack of food or water.  No one was exposed to the elements.  Does having to piss in the shower equate to hell on earth now?  It was not the 4 star experience they signed on for, but it was probably still more comfortable then your average camping trip.

Yes, yes. The ship was worse than a syphilitic, ego-maniacal, genecidal mad-man. Are you happy now?

I heard that some of the Carnival survivors have been contacted by the Holocaust Museum in Washington, DC to participate on guest panel. I don't think they've selected the title yet, but it'll be something along the lines of how even though it happened more than 6 decades, we collectively live mere figurative inches away from again plunging into such an abyss. The presentation will end with someone at the back of the room turning off the lights without any prior announcement and forcing the attendees to experience what is being called "45 seconds of unwanted night."

But why stop there. The same could be said about Jews in concentration camps, you know, except for the systematic killing and starvation things.

I'd MUCH rather be camping than stuck on the cruise ship with thousands of people who think a cruise is a fun vacation...

So, are cruise ships falling apart more, or did we just never hear about it back before the internet?

Because with fires and pirates and sinking ships it sure seems like this is happening a lot now.

But their vacation was RUINED!  They spent all that money (that will be refunded in full) and wasted all that extra time ($500 +room/board/flight to origin each) to have a dream vacation (with a voucher for a free cruise) go down the... um... broken sh*tter.

Seriously, though, all this ended up being was a bad vacation.  It could have been much worse; the passengers have a right to complain because it no doubt sucked to be on a packed ship with no sh*tters, but let's not pretend that this is any sort of "God smited us" situation.

"Okay, so we had to use those little red bags to go to the bathroom in. After the first 24 hours, all the Asians were complaining that the big fat Americans continued to gorge on huge amounts of red meat (cheese burger bar remained open 24/7) and filled the ship with putrid fumes of bodily waste. The Asians even videotaped one 300 pounder dude who wore the same Hawaii shirt x 7 days and needed 2 bags per bowel movement! The Asians then showed what looked like little rabbit pellets of their waste and compared it to the buffet lizard Americans that filled the arniva wheelborrow in just 3 or 4 cabins! This almost started a riot until the Captain decided to separate the Caucasians from the Asians...If you were Vegan, you were allowed to stay on the Asian side. I am vegan so I switched rooms with with a family from Houston Texas -All averaged 275 including the 3 kids. I just sat in my cabin watching Das Boat (the sub titled version) on my DVD player popping Zanex and eating steamed broccoli and white rice..I also smoked some cannabis I smuggled aboard in Cozumel. By the end of the cruise, I could speak decent German and I lost 12 lbs."

The horror - the horror.

Ugh.

That Polanski shiat is messed up.  35 years of dedicated white-washing by insane fans to try and change history, and a surprising amount of it worked.

Of course if she were a white male Republican who had said that it would guarantee her some large political contributions and Fox News would be talking about how right she was.

No, but if this had happened sixty, seventy years ago, I bet Woody Guthrie would have shown up and written an awesome ballad about it.

Now hearken you children and hear of the tale,
Of the stinkiest ship, ever to sail.
The Triumph left Mexico, filled with good cheer,
But when she came home, with poop she was smeared.

There was pee on the decks,
Bulkheads sprayed with brown flecks.
All casinos were closed,
O, those passengers were hosed...
