I didn't know Jon Pertwee had died. Now I has a sad. I like all the Whos, but have softer spot for Troughton, Pertwee and Baker.

Sorry, there is only one Doctor Who...Tom Baker, the Who I grew up with.

/yeah, I'm biased, sue me.

Ah, the overrated Doctor.

Welfare Peanut Butter: Ok. I love Doctor Who. I really do. It's by far my biggest nerd "obsession". But....it's February, and November is still far away. I don't think I can take 9 more months of ridiculous speculation and non-news. (Yes I know, it's not news, its...)

Americans bah.

floor: So Tom baker will be getting back together for the 50th anniversary! Awesome. I rewatched City of Death yesterday. It was one of the bonuses of having food poisoning ... Actually the only bonus. He sold some clunky lines and gave what could have been an over serious story some fun. It was a good episode but I would have rather been able to eat solid food.

"He's fainted."
"No, I hit him."

I'd only watch it if Colin Baker weren't in it. Well, no, I'd watch it, but I hope he gets very little screen time.  As for the newer Who I hope we don't have two seasons of chasing souffle girl to grind though.  I get the impression that the whole thing is just a build up that Oswin is really that disembodied consciousness (intelligent snow) that learned how to perfect its method from copying bits from the Doctor's mind and then Smith gets to be devastated and mopey when he realizes that his perfect, most interesting companion is a figment of his starved imagination.

Because 11 mopes, gets devastated, and mopes harder. That's his thing and it's worse than Tennant's rage-n-mope.

Pertwee's Doctor was always my favorite.

Mega Steve: Don't forget Pertwee. He was the only Doctor who engaged in hand-to-hand combat.

Four fought both a Sontaran and Chancellor Goth hand to hand.

Yes, it was bothering me that nobody had corrected that yet.

Doctor Who CSB warning:

I met Jon Pertwee at a Doctor Who convention in 1986/1987. He brought Bessie, talked and signed autographs and took tons of pics dressed as the Doctor. They had a TARDIS console inside a Semi with a bunch of classic Daleks, Cybermen, etc. He was a class act, and very kind to all the fans.

I also met Colin Baker a few years later at a con at the Tampa Theatre. He came and was such a nice guy, young, enthusiastic, and in that f$cking clown suit he Still, won over the fans, at least until they showed Twin Dilemma IIRC...DOH! and that was.... well the Doctor Who version of Phantom Menace for me. I lost interest and it stopped airing in the US. So I didn't  get around to watching more Who until the 2005 reboot where Eccleston  hooked me from the second episode. Still watching...

Had he not been there with the Autons... perhaps I would have chosen Inspector Spacetime.

confirmed that Matt Smith will star in the episode

And the rest of the article is pure speculation.

Thanks, Subby, Thanks a bunch.

*grumble grumble*

At this point I'd be happy if they just announced they were keeping it a secret till the thing airs.

He and the Eighth Doctor have something in common: They both died in America.

Troughton died in the U.S., too, at a hotel after a Who convention, if I remember correctly.

Yes, that is correct. Pertwee was also set to appear at a convention. He died a couple of days after the airing of the eighth Doctor's movie.

Colin Baker, McCoy, Tom Baker, McGann and Davidson in 2012.

I'm REALLY not sure I want to see these guys try and play the character they did 10, or 20, or cheee-rist, 30 plus years ago. Just look at them.

I like Matt Smith as The Doctor but he's to clumsy. David Tennants Doctor was amazing, he walked into to everything like " Yes, I am a bad ass and yes, I got this shiat now watch me be awesome."

Meh.  Peter Davison will always be my doctor.

The hat, the coat, the crickety cricket stuff, the... stick of celery, yeah... Brave choice, celery, but fair play to you, not a lot of men can carry off a decorative vegetable.
