Until I read TFA I'd never considered chocolate as a way to handle coyotes. Now I might think about tossing some Hershey Kisses or something over the fence where my dog can't reach them.

TFA: "It has been stated that "in large doses" theobromine may cause nausea and anorexia

You mean, I could lose weight by eating chocolate? Count me in!

Some people just want to watch the world burn.

Nope, it's about the toxic effects of theobromine on certain mammals.

Also, I concur with your opinion of white "chocolate".

Won't work.  The chemical isn't concentrated enough.

Get baker's chocolate.  That will work.

You'll need more than a few.  If the LD-50 of theobromine for canines is 300mg/kg, and the average coyote masses about 15 Kg, you're gonna have to get it to eat about 24 ounces of Hershey's Kisses to kill it.

\have fun unwrapping those...

If you're worried about toxicity to pets then you should always give Hershey's. They haven't used real chocolate in decades.

Everything is a poison in a large enough dose.

Bonus is that the stronger the chocolate, the less you need. Once I got turned on to darker chocolate, I discovered I didn't need to chow down on an entire bar in one go. I get 70-80% chocolate bars and one little square out of the 8 or so is just fine for my little choco-buzz.

Don't fret. If they eat the kisses whole, maybe the aluminum will block up or cut their guts on the way through.  I'm not sure there are any real chocolate compounds left in Hershey's products.

Here you go. Only need four, according to Cheekymonkey.
