Nah, more like amusing trivia.

Although leaving a bit of the Wright brothers plane in the moon could confuse cuter archeologists!

I just saw a  lunar buggy  at the Kennedy Space Center a couple weeks ago while checking out the Saturn V rocket and had no idea the tires were made out of a metal mesh.

You just wait, someone will come along and complain that it's bad enough we are destroying our own planet but worse that our miserable species is out polluting the rest of the solar system..  We will feel the teenage angst as we read their words.  It'll be great.  Hope I didn't jinx it.

There is a Saturn V at the Johnson Space Center. It always amazing me how farking big it is. 6.2 million pounds of rocket fuel. Crazy.

I too was amazed at the massive size myself.

And this is why aliens won't introduce themselves. We leave our trash on other planetoids and blow up shiat in our own yard. We're like the redneck neighbors of the universe.

What would happen if you dumped a dead body on the moon?

Would it decompose?

doczoidberg: What would happen if you dumped a dead body on the moon?

Vaccuum dessiccation.  All the moisture would be leached out as vapour by the extremely low pressure.  You'd end up with a moon-mummy, full of the mummified corpses of all the bacteria that would otherwise have decomposed it.

Unless there's an extremophile bacterium that can survive vaccuum.  The tenacious little buggers have turned up in some surprisingly hostile environments.

Interesting.

We should totally start dumping bodies on the moon!

Then then next time we visit the moon, the astronauts have to deal with some REALLY pissed off space bugs....

Sort of like Space Herpes....

Does anyone else remember a TV show where someone went to the moon, salvaged this stuff and came back home to sell it?

Warchild is that it?

Meh, once we get Moon Storage Alpha up and running for our nuclear waste we will just put all this crap in the nuclear land fill. We will never have to worry about it again.

doczoidberg: What would happen if you dumped a dead body on the moon? Would it decompose?

Bondith: Vaccuum dessiccation. All the moisture would be leached out as vapour by the extremely low pressure.

It'd also alternate between freeze-dried and slow-cooked.  Moon's surface (at the equator) can get as hot as 240F and as cold as -280F in 28-day cycles.  However, the lack of convection would make the process very uneven until all the moisture leached out.  Meanwhile, the lack of air also means the corpse would be bombarded with radiation and high-energy particles.

So, it wouldn't just be dry.  I'm guessing you'd wind up with a bad cross between gas station grade jerky on top and freeze-dried mummy underneath, like the worst microwave ever cranked up to 1.21 gigawatts.

Combustion (which would be required to produce ash) does't tend to happen very quickly in an environment that is essentially a hard vacuum.
