Have you ever had to deal with the Mounties? There's a reason that they're currently being investigated for everything up to, and probably soon including, gang rape.

Just the nanny state trying to tell people to discipline THEIR kids. What, should we just have a 3 minute logical conversation with a 7 year old and then give em a trophy for listening so good? Some kids you can only get through to with a little pain.

If his methods don't work at home, how do you expect them to work on terrorists.

Hard to tell with so many details missing. And I don't remember where the last one was from.

The officer was suspended with pay Wednesday, the force said, and an internal investigation has been opened by the RCMP to determine if the officer had complied with the code of ethics.

Who gets suspended with pay... after being charged with sexually assaulting their own children?

I farking hate the new comment box. It sucks. That should have been a bullet list. Is there any way to set the old one as the default?

No, different kid. That kid was 17. Apparently chaining your kid up in the basement is a thing now.

You know what? Fark you. The article indicates that a person was "chained," starved, beaten and raped. The fact that this person was a child, and the perpetrators were his parents, should make the crime more horrific. Instead, you somehow find a way to condone it.  If you were suggesting that a cat or dog needs "a little pain," you would have every keyboard jockey on Fark after you, and yet if you recommend hurting a kid its perfectly fine.

By the way, also from the article: Police sources told CBC News a child was "chained" in the basement. Sources also said what officers found was the "worst case of abuse police have seen."

Abuse is not acceptable. It causes infinite pain, both at the time of the incident, and in later years as depression, anxiety, PTSD and other very real and horrible problems.

I know that Ned was just being a troll, but many people really believe these sentiments. The repetition of the idea that children should be taught with pain and fear creates a social climate in which abuse is more common than it would otherwise be. If we still believed that a man should be able to beat his wife, we would see much more domestic violence. The belief that it is okay to beat a child allows abusive parents to continue their behavior without censure in many communities.

I suppose it was. It just got me upset because so many people have said the same things in earnest. A good number of Farkers don't think hurting a child is necessarily a problem, as long as the child isn't dead or hospitalized.
