I've thought the house was being broken into because the rabbit was thumping on his shelf, since he'd rearranged the walls of his cage so that there wasn't enough room to get down.

BTW - Can't imagine caging up a large rabbit like that. If you secure your wires and nibble-able items, they can be litter trained and move around the house.
