I wonder if they're little chunks that were sharing DA14's trajectory. If so there ought to be more incoming.

Bring your umbrella!

This meteorite was apparently heading in the wrong direction to be related to the big one.

Either this is the best viral marketing attempt ever or that was amazing.

Jeez, that sonic boom must of been one hell of a blast, you can hear glass shattering nearby. The video shot from the balcony glass breaking is much more noticeable.

My wife says it translates more into "fark!"

She doesn't know what "blatt" translates to... she just knows that it's bad.

No need to panic.  The Canadian goalie for the hockey team there who played 24 games for Atlanta in 2005-6 is alright.

I saw one about that size once. On the evening of July 4th a few years back. Saw it from the front yard, had enough time to run around to the back and watched for about another 10 seconds before it shattered into bits. Seriously the most intense thing I have ever personally witnessed.

My headline and submission time was better and earlier. Yes, I'm whining, it's late.

That said, RT has good updates.

And they're claiming "Urals meteorite shot down by Russian air defense" ... really? Is that possible, I thought meteorites would be way too fast for something like that.

That could be fun! Let's see....

DA14 is actually an alien mothership and one of their stealthed orbital drones misfired a "rod from god" over Russia.
