The funny thing is that subby doesnt realize that an infestation could be that severe that the destruction of the domicile would be warranted.

Why fail? Did the flames kill the bedbugs, which are notoriously susceptible to heat? Mission accomplished.

I honestly considered that solution when I had them, so I don't blame these people at all.

/they were in the walls!
//in an apartment complex
///nothing I could do would get rid of all of them

Look, if burning down a house is good enough for the LAPD, then it's good enough for this Dayton family!

I'd feel bad for these folks but really with bedbugs most of their belongings needed to be tossed anyways =(

I got bedbugs once from a second hand couch.

We saw them on like the 3rd day we had it but didn't realize what they were. After the 4th day i looked it up. we tossed that couch out right away. Investigator said we don't seem to be infested so we were lucky. 6 months later I started noticing weird bumps on my fiance and myself, pulled apart the pillowtop on my bed randomly and found a whole colony of them.  It took hundreds of dollars and many treatments to get rid of them. I haven't seen a bite or bug in months but  I still plan to throw out all my furniture/ dry clean all my  clothing when i move 'just in case'

Ha. If I remember correctly, about 25 years ago he stated in an interview that he did not want to be remembered for that song, or Pyscho Killer. Now, he has done some fine work, solo,  and the Talking Heads had so many other great songs, and a lot of other solo projects- but, this link is obligatory for the thread

With bedbugs, it really is the only way to be sure.

I'd sterilize the soil just to be 100% safe.

There's actually quite a bit of truth to that headline, bedbugs can be near impossible to get rid of.  My son got them in his bedroom and before it was over I had thrown out the mattress/bedding and tore up the carpet and pad and thew out anything else that they could have laid eggs in.

3 months ago or so we had a similar thread and one farker ended up going through 3 couches and idk how many beds for his daughters apt. I think the consensus was grab all metal stuff and digital stuff and just leave man- move and buy new stuff. I might be wrong

My wife's grandmother lived in a retirement condo that got bed bugs. Those things are difficult to get rid of with the stuff they are allowed to use nowadays. Bring back DDT or burning the place down seems pretty reasonable to me.

2013-02-15 09:06:58 AM
As a bedbug survivor I can sympathize. My old apartment complex had an infestation, and it took two huge campaigns of heat treatment to take care of them, and I am not sure it really worked, partially because people were not following directions.

So when I moved out I tossed out my old ratty couch, my bed, anything else that was suspect, and washed & dried all my clothes.

/And DDT is not the answer... the damn bugs built up a resistance.

2013-02-15 09:43:25 AM
Pretty much no reason anymore, anywhere to not have your mattress and box springs enclosed.

Vacuum  vacuum Vacuum
food grade diatomaceous earth for the kill

2013-02-15 10:09:11 AM
I disagree about DDT. Bedbugs were all but eliminated in the U.S.. Then we banned DDT and they slowly came back. Diatomaceous earth works OK, but it will not stop them completely. There was really no reason to ban DDT altogether in the first place. The problems caused by DDT were caused mainly by the fact that back in the 30s-50s, they thought it was a good idea to spray DDT everywhere. They used to drive trucks down the streets spraying DDT on the sides of the roads and they would spray every farm field with it. Using enough in a household to kill bedbugs would pose very little if any risk to the people in the house and even less risk to wildlife outside (birds were the main animals affected by DDT since it made their egg shells very thin).

So you're saying that everyone who is on anti-anxiety medication or anti-depressants is mentally unfit to enter into a consensual, adult relationship? You're the idiot here.

You're classifying everyone who suffers from a psychological ailment as unworthy of being loved? Do you approve of them entering into contracts? Would you permit them to have gainful employment and be able to live in their own apartments, or is that too much much for their feeble minds?

Go fark yourself.
