Will mention that in #5 down from top on Sat, same day as this, there are 2 quite good pix among the Candidates for New Pope.  One is of course Tardar Sauce with halo & paws spread, on pg 1 thereof, already furrgot how far down, by libranoelrose who's left catptioned fotos here; other is Ceiling Cat in that Esteemed Role Possibility, furrgot who by.  methinx Ceiling Cat would fill Role rather better --
Also spotted complete foto of the cute owl from imgur this pg, fetched by lilyspad.  Encroppinated mine to save some space.

5monkeys: I just did this. With two cats. One the people left in a tree and I got right away. Her name is

spiderpig now and she has a fantastic cat tower that she loves. It goes all the way to the ceiling next to a five shelf bookshelf. The other took me a week to find out was locked in the foreclosure. Her name is chuck Norris now. She is a survivor and a cuddle bug. We figured sandy made us homeless, and assholes made them homeless, so perfect fit for us. 300 bucks in vet bills later it was well worth it. They are awesome.

Laulaja, it's a Scandi (Danish, but we're all the same people, really) thing that one of my aunties taught me to make when I was dumped in Norway for the summer the year I was 10 or 11 Can't remember which year for sure as it was a frequent summer trip for my sis and I. As a result, I'm a bit more familiar with Scandi food than a lot of people in the US with Nordic heritage, but I honestly don't know how widespread they are in the rest of the Nordic countries.

The "aeble" part means "apple" in Danish but I remember her using whatever she wanted in there. I think everyone does, though. My favorite variety was when we went for spring break and the wild strawberries were all over the place. They're small and sweet and absolutely yummy. I forget the word for "strawberry" in any Scandi language/dialect, but luckily almost everyone in my family is bilingual or even multi-lingual to a certain extent (they can communicate, anyway), so I can just hand her the pan if she ever comes to visit and say "Strawberry, please!" I've never been as good at making them as she is, but she makes them at least once a week. Practice makes perfect and all that.

This kitteh approves of strawberry stuff! Especially the strawberry part. ;-p

A friend of mine has that problem with Funyuns! Says if she eats them after 5 pm she has dreams that would rival an acid trip.

I'm going to test this fried pickle thing. I've never had them before and weird dreams would be a bonus to me. Would save money by not having to go to the movies, anyway.

We got hit overnight with about 5". Nothing like you guys are getting but it wasn't expected, and it's friggin' cold and windy.
I just finished clearing off the cars and running the snow blower over the driveway. The wind is gusting every which way, so I ended up with several face-fulls of snow...freshly blown right out of the chute.

Snoo, a lajimi postment from Ago before I began applying dates, figs, other exotic fruit to pix (snork). None of that here either once Light Dustings yesterday melted.
RWDA, had never heard of Aebleskiver or pans in which to cook same before. But now tnx to GoodSearch, was able to find that the Solvang restaurant in that burg in CA sells same, incl one for under $20 (before p&h). Was also a place listed that overstocked for the year-end holidays & went out of business at end of Jan (URL 404ed). Also referred to as mini-round-pancakes, donut hole equivalents, etc. They appear to come in chocolate too; at least Solvang made some chocs for Val day. Referring to my bilingual dictionary, strawberry in Finn comes up as (hyoety)mansikka.  Berry is marja. Am trying to think how to make these without buying the utensil; own a couple microwave muffin "tins" but somehow doubt trying to microwave.
Salsa complete for moment, can it somehow be??  How????

I wouldn't use a microwave, but I hate microwaved food (with the notable exception of steaming something like broccoli). Part of the appeal of the aebleskiver is the stovetop cooking and you're basically frying them in the aebleskiver pan. That's why you use so much melted butter (proportionately) to batter in the recipe. I've never tried making them without an aebleskiver pan. Now you've got me wondering if I could fry them, but the old lay-deez my Gran has befriended are coming over tomorrow, so I don't really have the time to "play" in my kitchen as much as I'd like. I've got to finish prepping nibbles and I think I'll make them a caramel apple cake as well. 'Cuz talking about aebleskiver is making me want apple something. I always send each of the old lay-deez home or back to their facility with some goodies to munch on later, so I've got to pack those nicely as well.

I'm so gonna try and fry them (aebleskiver, not the old lay-deez) some day. If those state fair concessions can deep fry things like a cube of butter or kool-aid, I should be able to figure out "Americanized Aebleskiver". tee-hee!

I have someone to contribute for once. This is Flower. Poor cat got stuck with a stupid name from her prior owner, who more or less kicked her out in the middle of a divorce. She's an indoor/outdoor cat who's learned to knock when she wants in. Now think about that for a minute. She can knock on a door loud enough to be heard over the TV. When she gets worked up and goes to bat at you, you might not get scratches but a day later you'll be wondering where that bruise came from.

Hahahaha!!
I love her. She even looks like a girl who can stand up for herself.

I have to say something that happens daily at work that always makes me smile:
The huge number of people, especially nurses, who you will find several times a day flocking to where all the cardboard boxes are tossed in bins ready to be recycled at the hospitals.
One explained it perfectly:
"There is such a variety of sizes, and they are all such sturdy boxes - how can we  not automatically think of our cats?"
