I have someone to contribute for once. This is Flower. Poor cat got stuck with a stupid name from her prior owner, who more or less kicked her out in the middle of a divorce. She's an indoor/outdoor cat who's learned to knock when she wants in. Now think about that for a minute. She can knock on a door loud enough to be heard over the TV. When she gets worked up and goes to bat at you, you might not get scratches but a day later you'll be wondering where that bruise came from.

It's hard to lose family, whether they're human or the furry variety. You have my deepest sympathies.

HAHAHAHAHAAA!  What is it with little ones and zombies?!  He is cute as a button.  :o)

Thanks! That pic was from last summer.

He is now sporting a Mohawk. His grammy (my SIL) and I were calling it a frohawk. He was getting so mad.

He loves animals so much.

Zizzowop, good on yer for taking in 2 young ones already. One Hopes there were no Cat Wars meanwhile. Chorusmate of mine has life run by 3 black cats, would like to take another in. Keep telling her she needs to visit one of the shelters.
Amorphousred, tnx for fotos of your Supervisors. Good lookin' they are!
5monkeys, speaking of fotos, I'd love to be able to see spiderpig & Chuck Norris but my e-mail server doesn't wish to allow it.  It's SeaMonkey & ancient, spouse Plumbicon says conversion to FireFox comes fairly soon.  All Connections Are Un-Trusted by it!  that sux.
Allen. The End, wish to wish you good fortune with Jupiter's imminent vet visit.

Allen. The end.: Oh hell. My cat Jupiter is 18 years old. Monday she goes into the vet...things are not looking good. I've never lost a pet before, and I am wigging out. She was a hunter, and now an indoor cat, and I've been giving her glucosamine and chondroitin...but she is eating MUCH less, although she is still drinking plenty of water. I hope it's just a UTI. Instead of renal failure. And yeah, I know Jupiter is a guy name...but she came with it. When I got her I could hold her in one hand (peep!)...now I am scared.

Whoa, calm down! There are any number of reasons for decreased appetite, and usually you will see other symptoms as well with CRF. Which is also not the end of the world - Dragon is now approaching 6 months after having been diagnosed with late stage renal failure, and he is still going strong. Good luck, and check in with us on Monday after you see the vet, maybe we can help.

Okay caturday crew I have 2 issues:

1 - Downstairs Neighbors went away on a vacation somewhere about 2 weeks ago now and left their indoor/outdoor cat out, I'm not quite sure if it was intentional or not. The litter box is in the laundry room is empty and turned over. We've started to keep food out for him along with 2 possible strays/pets people kicked out. It's Canada and we've already had a blizzard so I'm worried about him. We think downstairs kitty is sleeping in the shed. Should we let him in? Hubby and I are planning to mention that we fed the kitty whenever the neighbors get back.

2 - Heidi has been licking her lower belly down right to the skin since her first flea attack in September. We got vet-strength meds and haven't seen a sign of fleas in months but she still keeps licking it clean. What do I do? She doesn't have any sores or anything.

5monkeys: I just did this. With two cats. One the people left in a tree and I got right away. Her name is spiderpig now and she has a fantastic cat tower that she loves. It goes all the way to the ceiling next to a five shelf bookshelf. The other took me a week to find out was locked in the foreclosure. Her name is chuck Norris now. She is a survivor and a cuddle bug. We figured sandy made us homeless, and assholes made them homeless, so perfect fit for us. 300 bucks in vet bills later it was well worth it. They are awesome.

I can give you some advice for problem #1.  Give that kitty a new home, either with you or with some friends who could use a new family member.  Also, when your neighbors come back from their vacation either give them a good punch from me, or guilt-trip the crap out of them.

Pivot I am sorry for your loss and for your cat's grief. In time the grief softens, but until then it's darn hard, all day long. We understand. Stay, laugh, cry. It's what we are here for!!

shortymac try putting some cortizone cream on it. Eli get teh bald belleh every spring, and that is what the vet told us to use. I would glop some on just before he sat down for his gooshy food. It actually worked quite well..And kitteh may need to spend some time in the cone of shame, so she stops obsessively licking it.

And bring the cat in. You fed it, it's yours now!

Ima4nic8or: One of my pussies was abandoned in a foreclosure house.  Sometime in 09 one of my neighbors walked away from their house, leaving with it an absolutely gorgeous, previously indoor only, white/gray cat with blue eyes.  They just left the poor kitty in the house with the rear sliding door wide open.  I didn't know it was there until a couple months later when I found it emaciated and cowering under some bushes in my front yard. After talking to a neighbor I found out that the poor thing had been wandering in and out of the empty house since the owners had left.  I don't know what the fark was wrong with the neighbor that apparently just watched a slowly starving cat from their window but I started feeding the thing and now it has made my backyard its home.  It is now fat and happy.

That is wonderful! I am so glad you were able to help! I will never understand how someone can just sit and watch like your neighbor did. It really isn't that hard to do the right thing for an animal.

I'm not sure if it was intentional or not, but I am planning on guilt-tipping the shiat out of them and seeing their reaction. Hubby and I have 4 cats already so we at max cat level for a 3 bed apartment w/ roommate.

I really don't get the whole "letting cats out" thing, we don't do that with dogs or any other pets. [Dogs going to the bathroom doesn't count]. I don't know how the tradition started.
