domari: rev. dave: My cat was a rescue from foreclosure.  But was outside when rescued.

What's sad is how common this happens. We've taken in so many cats left behind when people lose their homes. We took in a litter of kittens that a landlord found in the closet a few days after his tenants moved out. Luckily he checked the house when he did or the kittens would have died in there,. I don't know why people just can't bring them to a shelter or rescue instead of leaving them behind to die. I don't know if you were here when we had Vanna. Her family lost their home, moved out and left her there, pregnant. She was starved until a neighbor found her and gave her to us.

Yup. I've rescued more than one cat locked inside apartments in the past. I "allegedly" broke into the one right next door to me many years ago to rescue two cats abandoned by the farkwads who had just moved out. Also, my GoGo Beastie was probably from a family that lost their home. When we first saw her, she was horribly skinny and obviously scared of everything (which she still is - skittish, not skinny). When I finally managed to catch her and get her to our vet, she was chipped, but the information was all bad. We had a lot of foreclosures in our neighborhood back then, so we think she was left behind, probably with half their furniture. That kind of thing just ticks me off so much. We're talking white hot anger when I see animal abuse or neglect. I have a hard time controlling my temper when it goes, too. You simply do not treat another living creature that way - that's incredibly dishonorable behavior. GRRRR!

But hey! I gotz a purty kitteh out of it! Four years later, she's lookin' good and my usually happy Pretty Pretty Princess, even if she is still skittish and the weirdest cat I've ever been slave to - which is saying a lot.

Now, a cat who is either singing to us or praying no other kittehs go through the nightmares the poor abandoned kittehs everywhere go through when betrayed that way by their own hoomins.

Hearing about abandoned animals reminded me of a dog named Sandy. Sandy was a golden retriever mix that lived across the street from me when I was younger. She seemed to live a happy life with a family that cared for her, never beaten or starved with plenty of affection. The child in the family graduated and moved out of town. The parents divorced and put the house up for sale. We found Sandy about week after the parents moved out. She was sitting at her front door wanting to be let in. Thinking she had gotten loose from wherever she was staying and come home, we took her in and tracked down the parents. Neither one had wanted her after the divorce so they just moved out and left her there. We got the son's phone number and gave him a call and wanted to know if he wanted Sandy. He was very upset at what his parents had done to his poor dog. They hadn't even told him they didn't want the dog. So we held onto Sandy for a couple of weeks until he could come back to town and take her to his new home. They were very happy to be reunited. Sandy was at least 10 at the time and to think that anyone could just walk off and leave her like that was unimaginable.

Not having much luck with the phone # recorded yesterday by tigerose, think I may be mis-understanding the automated answering directions. Thought there was a choice for a Staff Directory, but if so, am not achieving it. No hablo espanol.
Is nearly lunchtime here, best get with that programme, be back inabit.

Have just finnished (sic) baking some buttermilk cheese.  It Has Challenges I may fix some other time. Doesna squeak like the flat baked made from skim  milk, that all the Youpers & Distant Cousins of mine know of.  Not gonna do chicken & waffles as suggested on a Main Pg article any time soon either.  Chicken & waffles with butter & syrup, They Do Say ...

Bastard beardie's at it again, credit/blame to arimport.  Cat not resembling any at the B4 household.
Some folk on local 2meter repeater just reported getting wrong dishwasher delivered. Not just wrong size but wrong brand.  Also tale of beer can dropped behind dishwasher; never opened, but beer all evanesced out.  Think that's happened to a car-shaped bottle of booze meant to commemorate the Indpls 500; it was at my folks' place since I was a kid, been here since 1995. Definite lifetime, no longer worth the trouble to fling it into the trash, quite likely.
Pl says we got an errand or 3 to run. Back inabit.

Two days off and I have spent it running around doing "stuff". Check Verizon store, re-upgrade. Go to the grocery, go to the bank, go alllll the way out to the fabric store for industrial strength thread-two colors. Also known as button thread/carpet thread. Oh and a two for one button card sale..and 15% off...helped someone put together parts for a Flapper outfit. (My good deed for the day)..then to the grocery again..out of wine..got my hair done..no more frosty roots! :)

Played birdy with Eli. Filled his catnip pepper..gave scritches..reminded guest that Eli is a 3 pets you are done kinda kitteh..Made him chase treats..I toss them, he retrieves and eats them. I try not to laugh as he skitters across the floor..he's been nuts lately! Playin mousie at all times of the day/night...leaving it for me to step on in the morning...before coffee...eeek! It's like he is kittenish again. Suppose he has Spring Fever??

And a pic at the end of the wall o text!

It is Spinnyr that sells the ded spermz. Until then, a suggestion...I make what I call "potatoes". You take the toe of a pair of pantyhose..or a knee high, I'm forever getting runs in them! Stuff it with cotton balls or batting, sprinkle liberally with da nip. Knot the end, then turn inside out and knot again. There is something about the weight of this toy and the mouth feel that really make kittehs happy. I created this toy when I was a starving college student and had a manic Siamese to amuse! Oh yes, this toy has the DragonTM Seal of approval!
