When Brian Kilmeade, Martha MacCallum and Bill Hemmer have to take 3 unpayed hours off work on Election Day to wait in line to vote, I will pay attention.  Until then, STFU.

I don't think this 102 year old woman had that particular problem.

Anyway, as far as Fox chuckleheads are concerned, Ms. Victor is one of those 47% loafers leeching off the hard work of real Americans.

She could easily get a job, especially now that she's famous. She can be an entrepreneur; open a boutique selling wigs like the one she wore on TV.

They'll be all the rage now that she's famous! So get to it grandma! Those bootstraps aren't gonna hoist themselves!

gilgigamesh:

Agreed she didn't have to take the time off work, but I figure making the talking heads pay to vote (by giving up hours of work) would help drive home the point.  I doubt that once you put a dollar amount on it that they will feel their vote is worth it.

Imagine if those women were white men and their democratic votes were republican votes.

fta: ...no "big deal"

The length of time some people have to wait in order to exercise their constitutional right to vote IS a BFD.

The fact that in many instances the long waits can be traced to GOP dirty tricks might explain why FOX are downplaying this story well beyond their traditional need to shiat on anything a Dem does anywhere, ever.

The real tragedy here is that Kilmeade has a tv show AND a radio show.

I"m sure, then, they went on to endorse measures to make it easier to vote, including voting by mail and opening polling places early.  Right?

No, but at any given moment she's at exceptionally high risk to not have 3 hours to live.

Speaking on Kilmeade's Fox News radio show, MacCallum suggested that long voting lines were not important enough to include in a State of the Union speech because the problem could be handled at the "municipal level... Get the town council on that one."

Their ignorance really knows no bounds.

At the risk of giving their "argument" any credibility whatsoever:  what the fark does the town council have to say when your farking governor signs into law the reduction of voting hours and locations?

Despicable, disgusting people.

It isn't ignorance. They really don't believe in equality for all, that's all.

Dusk-You-n-Me: Contempt can be a difficult emotion to suppress.

When your contempt extends to a near-heroic sense of civic responsibility displayed by a woman who was already 60 years old when you were born, its probably a good time to reflect on what went wrong in your life.

Or just kill yourself.  Either works for me.

Not "you", of course,  Dusk. I was referring to the objective "you" in case that wasn't clear.

I don't know about other countries, but there are a large chunk of people in this country who don't regard anyone who isn't a protestant conservative of Northern European descent an American at all.

I had to wait an hour in a rural area with moderate turnout. Everybody has to wait. Since everybody at the polls is a volunteer, I see an amazing opportunity for her and people like her to reduce the wait times.

The Constitution guarantees you the right to vote. It doesn't guarantee you convenience. Could it be better? Yes. Should it be better? Absolutely. But the idea that waiting to vote is such a drain is new and stupid.

2013-02-14 02:02:48 PM
Well I figured Fox would say something, but at least it wasn't like the far right blogger sphere that has been asking whether Desiline Victor (the 102-year-old woman) is a legit American citizen.

Adolf Oliver Nipples: Everybody has to wait.

To some degree, yes. Voting does not generally occur the instant a person shows up to the polling place. If we agree that everyone has to wait, then we should also look at how much waiting is happening and by whom.

A Massachusetts Institute of Technology analysis determined that blacks and Hispanics waited nearly twice as long in line to vote on average than whites.  Link

Who'd a thunk it?

Thank God for FOX.  Without their perspective to balance things out, we might fall for those libs and their liberal lies in the lamestream MSM liberal media who think super-elderly people having to wait several hours to vote is a bad thing, when in fact it's no big deal and even worthy of a hearty guffaw!

Thank you FOX for keeping me infromed!

Eh, I can't even get offended anymore. Republicans and their supporters by and large are bad people who say and believe a lot of bad things. Also, water is wet and a nice tequila (neat) goes great with a medium steak, fried onions, and a beer back. Shocking!

No kidding.  The fact that an estimated 200k people just didn't vote because of the crazy lines in Florida, which cut early voting and did not have adequate staffing at polling places, is wrong.

Their heads are stuck up their butts, they constantly talk out of their asses, and they've got the hive-mind bit down pat - so why are you ruling out the possibility of republicans existing as a single hive-asshole?
