Neither are the LAPD, so pinning this specific issue directly on the PD would be a bit misguided.

Even if this does expose corruption and that Dorner was blackballed for doing the right thing, his actions do nothing to clear his name. His actions show that he was never "qualified" to be an officer in the first place. He was the psycho guy with the potential of going postal. The LAPD with their corruption just provided the stimulus to unleash the potential. From what you gather from his family and hish ex-girlfriend on the news, he was in many ways a "basket case" and he was even too much of a "basket case" for the LAPD, where normally that would be an assest.

Isn't "capture and conviction" standard language in a reward? Never really paid attention before, just seems logical to prevent multiple claims.

And aren't there still hearings and legal proceedings that are done to apply a conviction or assign a guilt status, in the event of a suspects death? Would that be able to apply?

I hope this teaches people a lesson: The LAPD cannot be trusted.

meh, he's dead, LAPD is still a corrupt, lying, bigoted asshat organization.  If you don't think the cops are out to get you for every possible dime they can take from fines and seizures, you're living in a dream world.  The million will be lost to red tape and end up lining someone's pocket, making a very nice retirement, even if they are getting a pension, because as you know, more money is always better than less money.  The guiding principle for the jurisdictions has been thus ever since the drug war turned into a for-profit venture, with the local counties getting to keep half of everything they take.  If you think all the drugs are being burned, I'd love to come visit, because those must be some killer shrooms you are on.
