Wow.  You know...I'm starting to really appreciate the Dorner sympathizers.  I can't condone what he did, but damn, the LAPD really seems to be just a large, corrupt, gang.

So, a decision to take no prisoners saves the city $1 million?  Do you think the LAPD brass knew this and conveyed it to the field?  Or, after having a number of officers gunned down, were the police there just too hot to ever expect him to be brought in alive, so putting "capture and conviction" made an award extremely unlikely.

I said in another thread that the cops couldn't kill Dorner without martyring him. Looks like I was right.

The LAPD had no intention of capturing Dorner.  So technically, there never WAS a reward.  It was a revenge killing and they made it as painful as possible.

Weren't they claiming the reward was from "private groups", after people started asking questions about it?
How would *the city* have even been "on the hook" in the first place?
Why would it care to weasel out of the payout one way or the other?

Uunless, you know, they were lying about the reward every single time they talked about it.

Next up a suit for breach of contract with triple punitive damages. Good luck finding 12 or even 1 citizen that is going to side with the LAPD. How do they even walk after shooting themselves in the foot so many DAMN times?

When my wife worked in a probation office for a year, she knew the guy who was in charge of handling reward money.  He thought they gave away some money "twice a year", and never the full amount.

Sometimes the money doesn't technically exist--it's like the prize money for a hole-in-one at a golf tournament.  You're putting up an insurance policy, in short.
