Lots of bands spend long careers sucking mightily and consistently, but without actually knowing it.  A Grammy is outward confirmation from your peers of what you've suspected all along.  You are terrible to such a degree that you can never be redeemed.  Fortunately for you, that confirmation came early.  Now you can quit sucking at music, and open that little B&B you've been dreaming of.

I guess I surprisingly like that Mumford and Sons got some industry recognition playing real instruments and song writing. I dont' get the hate. With so much overproduced poppy/and or safe sh*t, they are kind of cool. But I like banjos and acoustic guitars and that sound so...

Normally, I think banjo possession should be a capital crime. But I'll make an exception in M&S's case. They can really rock out on the banjo.

When someone says "oh I only listen to good music", I always have the sudden urge to give them a falcon punch.

It's an industry award. If the recording industry existed in a vacuum we'd hear Carolina Chocolate Drops and Nathan Blake Lynn on the radio.

Heard them a long while back, from a friend who digs indie stuff.

I like that they're trying, I like that they're different.  I like that I can feel the emotion in their songs, whether it's regret or anger or acceptance.

As to their songs sounding the same...I blame that more on the listeners than the band itself.  No one can say that with a straight face.

Their studio stuff is amazing, but they really are a band to see live.  IMO.

It's pretty common for lots of bands from outside of North America to learn to sing with "American" accents, particularly when it is a genre of music mostly from North America like country, bluegrass, etc.

When I want to hear Bluegrass instruments, I'll listen to a real Bluegrass group. Not a bunch of hipsters pretending to do something new and unique.
