So...how exactly did the cops kick him out?  My understanding was that the adverse possession law was still on the books.

Wow, that is a terrible song. Makes "Call Me, Maybe" tolerable.

Not going to feed the AW nor give him any money for the viewing by watching the video.  Teach the guy a lesson and let his aspirations of fame and fortune die quickly.

Someone will have to let me know if that got better after the first 10 seconds.

Adverse possession usually requires possession for a long period of time. It's 15 years in my state.  I'm gonna guess he didn't squat long enough.

They find that burning the place to the ground works well.

"the foreclosed home he lived in claiming "adverse possession." "

Yeah, I'm sure he was all ready to pay the property taxes, HOA fees, and maintenance for the next seven years.  They needed a work crew to clean out all the garbage from inside the place after he left.  Trespassing and vandalism aren't adverse possession.  They are two entirely different concepts.

The bank reclaimed the house.  Adverse possession only works if you manage to stay somewhere for a certain length of time and the rightful owner doesn't show up with documentation of ownership.

I believe you have to live there for seven years before you can claim it as your own.

You have to openly have possession of the home for seven years and pay property tax on it for that period to gain ownership. Squatting for 4 months doesn't make the owner's lose their rights.

"It has a nice shelf"

That is such a good idea, I don't know why somebody hasn't redesigned the commode and cashed in big-time. Mind you, I'm very good at seeing the down side of things so I can see some flaws or weak points:

1) some people would be concerned about hygeine;
2) the shelf would be a great place to forget things;
3) some people would get caught up in reading, malingering, or texting and would forget to stop and go away.

But it should be possible to make a much more efficient design. With the sitter facing the wall, you could put the toilet paper roll on the wall next to the toilet, in easy reach or simply on the top of the tank. The seat could be angled for greater efficiency and comfort, men could be encouraged to sit when they pee, and all sorts of things could be done, such as putting ads or tablets on the wall to occupy the sitters.

Cartoonists are always coming up with great ideas as jokes. I've seen almost every school of art in the XXth century parodied before it even existed by cartoonists, and many silly inventions that you could easily make a small fortune selling. This looks like a keeper.

Three Brantgoose Theories about Americans:

Most Americans will do anything to get on TV or become famous.

Americans will buy or sell anything.

Americans will turn anything edible into candy.

Prove me wrong, people!

There may be people to whom these rules do not apply, but most of them are not Americans and most Americans are not them.

Anybody want to buy some chocolate-covered bacon hearts for their Valentine? As seen on TV!

This.

It seems that there has been a recent trend (especially in Flordia) of folks who are attempting to take advantage of the adverse possession law, yet fail to understand the way it works.  It seems as if the people who are squatting believe that once they file, the property is theirs - or that they have the right to live in someone else's house. Idiots.

Money is now being spent paying security guards to keep people from using a perfectly good empty house, which the owning bank apparently isn't even interested in selling.

Capitalism.

Nah.  Adverse possession is what you're doing during those seven or whatever years.  Ownership is what's conveyed after you have met the requirements.
