(Slate)   Amazon users rejoice after their angry campaign leads to toy Predator drones (for kids 3 and up) being pulled from the site. Oh, sorry, did we say "pulled from the site?" We meant "sold out in record time"   (slate.com) divider line 11

I'm one of the libbiest libs who ever libbed a lib, but I don't understand why people are upset over toy drones? Do they object to toy airplanes as well?

Little boys are always going to want to play war. Before there were plastic M-16s there were aluminum six-shooters. Before that there were wooden swords. Before that they were probably pelting each other with acorns or something.

Trying to stop them does nothing to address real-world violence.

The reviews for the toy are kind of funny, but ultimately filled with the sort of whiny derp about "drones murdering people" that basically boils down to "I want to go back to the good old days of saturation bombing."

Rev. Skarekroe: Look, no matter how hard well meaning liberal parents try, you're not going to stop little boys from playing war and pretending to kill each other.

And that's because human beings are fundamentally awful creatures.

Most drones don't even carry weapons.

It's funny how the word "drone" have become sort of vague shorthand for evil.  Sort of the way that "profiling" has come to mean "racial discrimination" or something like that.

This is something that can't be repeated enough in drone threads.

But, please, keep acting like I was reacting to the mere mention of the word "drone", instead of the problems hinted at by that other sentence, if it makes it easier to brush off my post.

i don't know about you, but many people DO just seem to be reacting to the word drone.  There was a guy in another thread who told me that we should send comandos to conduct these targeted killings instead of drones because the drone attacks are making pakistanis hate us.

Obviously it was the "drone" part that he had a problem with, not so much the "targeted killing" part.

Anyone else find it funny that people are outraged over toy drones but perfectly fine with oBomba pounding brown people into the stone age with real ones?

Stop crying already, the reliance on drones is a good thing. The next revolution will be won withhackers not and NRA militiamen.

I was all kinds of angry that I wasn't told about these. But they look kind of weak. I need one with at least a 12 inch wing span and at least one nerf missile.
