um ....its one guy ....talk about overkill.

It seems like you could just surround the place and likely wait it out.

Not sure how putting thousands of holes in the building and subsequently catching it on fire was a good plan. It even got one of them killed. It looks like a case of too many people stepping on their dicks at the same time.

I don't think the LAPD was really going to chance him surviving.

LAPD wanted him dead but he wasn't in Los Angeles. He was in San Bernardino County.

Well, with him dead this quickly, he can't become a folk hero like Dillinger and he can't write his multi-million life story from jail.

If you think that fire set itself or was anything other than intentionally set to kill him, I feel sorry for you due to your naïvete.

Yes.  The LAPD has zero pull outside of LA proper.

SBSD refused LAPD's offer to assist that day. LAPD wanted to send a helicopter full of their mall ninjas, but SBSD declined; they had local PD, USMS, FBI and Sheriff's Deputies, although it is likely there were LAPD members providing some on-site support, it likely wasn't more than advisement or observation.

I think so.  I am just wondering if it will be the lunatic fringe on the left or the right that will put on the tinfoil hats.  Maybe both.

This will be a good thread.

Plausible deniability. "The LAPD didn't silence him to prevent him ever from testifying... they weren't even there! Just some of their really good friends and neighbors."

Wasnt it two non LA police departments who opened fire on two different vehicles without confirming if the occupants (2 hispanic women in one scenario and one white male in the other scenario) or the vehicles were actually Dorner?

It's almost as if the police are one large corrupt and bloodthirsty brotherhood regardless of jurisdiction or area of operation.

Maybe, but he was blah, and I've always thought the "cops are all evil and out to get you" was a left wing thing.

I've got a feeling that it will be both at first, but they won't be able to stand agreeing on something so it will end up one or the other.

So they found his wallet again huh? Maybe a new manifest besides the two versions we have already? Maybe someone else will decide a job they had 4 years ago will be the straw to the camels back and go bat shiat insane. Hopefully they will have TS/SCI security access to and the police will shoot up more civilian trucks before the occupants exit the vehicle. Hopefully they won't waste ammo on the next cabin and just 40mm the the building.

You forgot Fish and Game.  They found and identified him and fired the first rounds.  Fish and Game has Ar-15s?  Really?

To top it off, the couple that was tied up then escaped and alerted the cops probably won't get the reward.

Maybe he wasn't a cop.

Wouldn't be the first time law enforcement enlisted military (SFOD-D) for assassination.

They might have been the guys with Mini-14s or just had handguns. I did forget about them and the fact that it was the Fish and Game guys that basically brought Dorner's run to an end--not LAPD, not their fancy SWAT ninjas or their high-tech helicopters. That's funny.

Realist29: So Dorner fires the first shot initially killing a deputy. So once again Dorner is a hero?

Only ballistics can prove that.

In the Waco raid/seige the ATF agents were killed by other ATF agents. The rounds dug out during autopsy were restricted Cyclone rounds that were designed for the ATF.

There was at least one report that one of the deputies in the shootout was hit by friendly fire; I don't know if that will pan out to be true or if they'll follow up to find out who shot who in the end.

That is linked to dehumanization. Basically the cops know who they are targeting, and even with the knowledge of what Dorner has done, they still see him on a human level as an individual with dreams, hopes, family, etc, which subconsciously makes them less accurate since they don't want to be responsible for killing someone.  Dorner, on the other hand, is fighting against a bunch of uniforms, drones if you will, and is more easily able to separate them from their human side.  You can also use this theory to explain why stormtroopers are so bad.

Of course Dorner was also in a fortified position which would give him a large defensive advantage, and many of the rounds being fired by the cops would be for cover fire and not actually aimed at a real target.

The 2 women were shot by LAPD operating outside their normal jurisdiction while on bodyguard detail.

This, completely. The LAPD had no intention of arresting him. They opened fire on folks that just had the misfortune of driving a truck that kinda looked like the one he was allegedly driving - twice. They couldn't afford to have him talk in court.

2013-02-15 02:49:34 AM
Cops aren't war-fighters, even though they like to dress up like war-fighters, with all the toys.

A house full of sleepy dope dealers or an innocent family is more their speed; anything else and they're all standing around with their dick in their hands while rounds fly.

He's dead and he deserves to be dead. Lots of people get unjustly fired, they just don't kill other people because of it. And he could have been an asshole at work for all we know.
