It gives them the excuse to stall confirmation across the board, and since they have taken the unprecedented step of filibustering a defense nominee, I'm pretty sure we're a little past who the fark cares.

Stop trying to make Benghazi a scandal and I'll stop posting this.

Seriously, they are just embarrassing themselves now.

I think they have realized it isn't going to ever become a real scandal.  They have convinced some of their most loyal followers that it is.  So now they are trapped, if they back down they get primaried out, if they keep going they are made a laughing stock of the general populace and lose the general.  They are screwed in any contestable district.

Isnt this guy Obama's current chef of staff?  Sure this may not pertain to his nominataion but at his current job role he may be privy to some of the stuff that went on in the whitehouse on this.

This might have made sense ten years ago, when the Secret Service was still part of the Department of the Treasury (it has since been folded into DHS). Now it just plain doesn't.

I know someone who honestly thought, in 2008, Obama was going to do that if he won the election.

Obama really should pull Lindsey Graham into his office and sit him down with cameras rolling and biatch smack him verbally; Senator Graham, in case you were not aware, I don't work in the state dept they report to me. I learned of this after the fact. Do you have any other stupid questions?

I will say, as a pinko-commie socialist Fartbongo supporter, that one of his biggest detractors are his picks for Treasury secretary(s) and some of his financial "advisers".  From  Larry Summers to Geitner and now Lew.

I do like Elizabeth W.  and Mary Jo White as picks, though.

It's kind of like the drone killing citizens issue. They like the idea, they just don't like who is ordering it.

If only Senator Dick Burr had thought of asking Lew about THAT! Well, who has the time to ask about substantive things when there are Libyan chickens to be farked!

// kind of rich that Lew's "it's legal; fark off" doesn't work with Senate Republicans anymore, and that suddenly NOW investing in the Caymans is bad for America
// also kind of rich that Max Baucus ("D"-MT) defended it

At this point, I think it's only news if the GOP does something rational.

Verbally?! Literally. And then end every Obama press appearance thereafter with a slow-motion replay of said biatch-smacking.

White Water was about trying to turn some investment into a financial crime, but by investigating EVERYTHING no matter how unrelated they came up with Monica Lewinsky.  They are fishing, desperately, for any ammunition they can use against Obama.  It's a long-odds bet and it cost them several power-players, but they made it back in 2000 and are hoping it was/will be because of doggedly creating another scandal.

Now whether or not the GOP took congress in 2000 as a result of Clinton's bad press is uncertain, but it is not beyond imagining.

Maybe Obama could meet the Republicans half way and try, just for a day or so, to not be black.

Waiting for the usual suspects to come in and do the "so you don't care about justice for four dead Americans" thing.  Surprised they haven't arrived yet.

Blaming Obama for Benghazi would be like blaming the CEO of WalMart for the people who got shot in a WalMart parking lot in Florida last year.

Burr, questioning Lew before the Senate Finance Committee on Wednesday, suggested no one knows who kept Obama informed -- if anyone did -- as the attacked progressed.

What difference does it make if he was given a play by play? He couldn't do anything about it.  Also, the President doesn't do everything himself anyway.  He has people for that.

I still don't understand what the problem is here.

Don't blame me, I didn't vote GOP.

The problem is the complete lack of serious scandals in the Obama white house.  If the guy would just boff an intern here and there, Benghazi would magically disappear, to be replaced by semen stains on a blue dress.  But noooo, he's got to be Mr. Faithful squeaky clean no-drama Obama.  And that's just wrong, don't you see?
