Don't forget the biggest romance scam of them all:  marriage.

Dating is not a scam. It's a loophole.

It is illegal to trade sex for money. But it is LEGAL to trade sex for a nice dinner, some entertainment, and drinks.

taurusowner: This. In the end, Dating, Marriage, etc are all just prostitution. You can't trade sex for money, but women can and do trade it for everything else.

The problem with marriage is at some point women can stop delivering the sex and you're still married.

At least with prostitution when the sex stops so does the expense.

Dear god, you're right. Marriage is AWFUL for men.

You can do all of that without getting married. Why buy the cow...

Here's a CSB to explain why...

My first husband died in a motorcycle wreck just weeks after we were married. Had we not been married, I would have had absolutely no way of paying the mortgage on the house we bought together. As it was, his parents were trying to scream that since he died without a will, they got half of his life insurance (which, believe me, wasn't much). Had we not been married, I would have been left with absolutely nothing since I wouldn't be considered legally next of kin.

So yes, it's a financial decision, but it's a promise to support one another. A lot of women take this for granted, and that's unfortunate, but just because it's not FOR YOU, that doesn't mean that it's awful for EVERYONE to do. There's a lot of really happy people in long term marriages.

The woman being awesome does not change the fact that marriage is a scam. A man still isn't getting anything out of it other than risk*.

*Only applies to men with their shiat together. Poor guys knock yourselves out.

I know that we can't generalize, but women viewing marriage as the end goal rather than the beginning of a new life together seems to be quite a thing in the U.S. Obviously, it would behoove us to avoid these types of women at all costs, but sometimes, inexplicably, a "switch" flips and you can't always see that coming.

Note that I'm not saying "all marriage is bad", because it's not, but I understand how some men might not want anything to do with it whatsoever.

Ah, you guys.

Sorry you couldn't find a decent woman. That blows, but marriage ain't a death trap. Seriously.

Decent women, a subspecies of decent human beings, are exceedingly rare creatures.

And the ones who continuously tell you how awesome they are are usually the ones to avoid like the plague.

If you're so awesome, how come you need to attention-troll the internets?

You sound female.

And a five star wife. My man is HAPPY.

There's good women out there. Truly. So many guys are so focused on a woman's appearance, they're constantly getting screwed by pretty women who offer little else.

Find the gamer chick with a college degree who is maybe carrying 20 extra pounds. I promise, you'll be infinitely happier than with a supermodel, and the sex will be a thousand times better.
