Puck was my guess as well.
I don't recall him or the rest of Alpha Flight having anything to do with the Days of Future Past storyline in the comics though.

If he's not playing Puck, then maybe a very short Uatu: the Watcher?

I'm not going to claim to be someone who knows what everyone likes, but I get a nagging feeling that this is a horrible title for a movie. It just sounds so 90's comic book revamp/70's Heman. Unless retro is in or something.

He's a FAR better actor.

Warwick Davis is a dwarf who became an actor by chance.

Peter Dinklage is a great actor who just happens to be a dwarf.

He was by far the best thing about "Find me guilty".

But I wonder how comes he can have such a deep voice, when most dwarves have high-pitched squeaky voices.

texdent: Geez, who isn't in this movie?

Brett Ratner, hopefully.

I know, I know, X3 wasn't entirely his fault. I blame Singer just as much for that disaster, as he just had to go off and make Superman Returns. However, if this is his way of making up for that abomination, especially if he uses this movie to completely excise X3 from the canon, then all is forgiven. I already pretend that X3 didn't happen, and it would be wonderful if the movies actually agreed with me on that point.

Warwick Davis Billy Barty of the 2010's and a better actor to boot.  He's great in everything I've seen him in.  And I'll probably be bashed for it but I'd like to see him in a remake of Willow Dr. Shrinker or something.

ftfy   At least Billy Barty was more a real actor.   That dwarf actor who appeared on a few episodes of L.A. Law and other stuff was a great little actor, too.

I'd say, since this is supposed to be set in the 70s (I think I've heard that), Wolverine may have been involved with Alpha Flight.  Ergo, Puck.

2013-02-14 08:14:35 AM
I think Uatu is the best match.  Put a dome skull on him and his body proportions are pretty much identical.

On the other hand the X-Men series tries to stay as grounded and realistic as is possible for a series of movies based on people with super powers.  So more likely it will be either Puck or some random mutant.  If Puck then Peter is going to have to do some serious bulking up.

Dinklage is in a unique position.  If you have a part for a dwarf in a blockbuster, you need him to play it, but he's not going to take it if the role demeans dwarves.  He's got Hollywood by the balls at this point.

I'm not sure "Hollywood blockbuster with a role for a dwarf" is quite large enough a segment of the movies being made for Dinklage to have anyone by the balls.

That being said, he's great. Love him in Game of Thrones and he was even pretty good in that Chris Rock remake where he was the dead father's lover.

They don't need to remake Willow. They need to do the Shadow War chronicles that follow the story in Willow. It's written by Chris Claremont so if you x-men fans haven't read it then it's something you might like.

Willow doesn't need to be remade.  Sure, Warwick Davis may have been hit or miss, but you're not going to improve on Val Kilmer in that movie.

Certainly not "by the balls", but he certainly does have a position of leverage between his stature and his acting ability.  Frankly put, there are people out there that are really going to want/need him for certain roles, and he's in the position to take them, dump them, or raise the price.

I like the guy's acting.  I think I first came across him on Nip/Tuck, many years ago (though in retrospect I think I remember him from something before then, too).  I'd be very disappointing if he signed on to the movie as "superdwarf".

Which is why you continue down the timeline with the Shadow Wars.

Dinklage as Willow is a given. You'd have to find a really talented actress for Elora Dannan. I hate to say it but Jennifer Lawrence would be good.

Supposedly George RR Martin wrote the character of Tyrion with Peter Dinklage in mind.

Marisyana: Supposedly George RR Martin wrote the character of Tyrion with Peter Dinklage in mind.

A Game of Thrones was published in 1996, so it was finished some time in 1995 (and was started in 1991).

Peter Dinklage's first role was in 1995, in a tiny independent film that almost no one saw, in which he had a tiny, cliched role. He had a few small roles after, but didn't have any wide recognition until 2003 with The State Agent.

So the timeline makes that story about as likely as Peter Dinklage joining the NBA as a point guard.

I would guess Puck, too, especially if they are going for the era of "Days of Future Past," right at the creative peak of all the X-comics. Though he didn't really figure in the original story, the character was created by John Byrne, who developed Alpha Flight and was the artist on X-men at the time.

Puck's a stupid character w/a stupid power.  "Oh, all of his limbs are exactly the same length so he can somersault really fast!"  Yeah, Dinklage isn't about to play a character who's main power is basically dwarf-bowling.

Besides, Puck wasn't even in Days of Future Past, unless he's in one of the background shots of the Mutant Ghetto.  Even Uatu wouldn't make much sense, since Fox would have to buy rights to the character from Marvel.  And I doubt Marvel's going to let go of any more characters ever, even in a limited release.  All those deals were made when they were near-bankruptcy.

No, it'll either be a new character or the face of the Sentinels.

Years ago, I watched "The Station Agent" when it first came out. I kept thinking to myself that, not only was Dinklage amazingly hot, but he was such a good actor..pity there aren't good roles for four foot tall hot excellent actors.

I'm delighted at the turn his career has taken. He was high-larious in "Elf", amazing in GoT, and I'd even go watch X-men to see what he does in that.

2013-02-14 05:07:43 PM
The Avengers was so good, I really doubt anyone is going to want to watch another stupid X-Men movie ever again.

Also, wow it's so original to take everyone's favourite actor from Game of Thrones and add him to your crap movie in an attempt to get people to watch it. Tell ya what, throw in Jack Huston or Anatol Yusef, and I might just download the screener off Pirate Bay one weekend when we've got nothing to do.

Just for the record, Dinklage has achondroplasia which is fairly common. Billy Barty had cartilage hair hypoplasia, which Verne Troyer also has. Warwick Davis has Spondyloepiphyseal dysplasia congenita which is rare. There are many different types of dwarfism that manifest in different ways.

imontheinternet: OniExpress: I'm hoping for Uatu...  I aldo don't really see him signing on to be "the super-dwarf".

Dinklage is in a unique position.  If you have a part for a dwarf in a blockbuster, you need him to play it, but he's not going to take it if the role demeans dwarves.  He's got Hollywood by the balls at this point.

To grab anything higher up he'd need a stepladder.

Let me join the multitude in singing Dinklage's praises. Also, I won't disparage W. Davis. The man is far funnier than people give him credit for. Good guys who deserve good things.
