Bill_Wick's_Friend: Cab in Vancouver once tried to rip me off. I was on my phone in the back seat and when I looked up it was like "where the fark are you taking me? Why are we on this bridge and not that one (pointing) over there!?"After a second error I told him to turn off the meter because I wasn't paying any more than what it read. Told him that, yes I was attending a convention downtown but that the pass around my neck didnt mean I was a tourist who he could rip off. "Take me home for what shows on the meter now or I start writing letters to your boss and the provincial taxi licensing agency." He did what I said.(For those who know the city - going from Sutton Place hotel to Kits Point. Cabbie took Granville bridge and then went up to Broadway where he took a right and then another right turn all the way down Arbutus)/csb
SSpiffy: I keep the Nevada Taxi Authority on my speeddial when I go to Vegas. If you fly in and the cabbie takes the tunnel & freeway to go to a strip or downtown hotel, you are being longhauled. Call the Authority on the way, then refuse to pay until they get there. Odds are the taxi will just leave without money. Hey! Free Ride!Had one try to take the freeway from Fremont Street to Caesar's. I called him on it and all the sudden he barely spoke English. No tip for him!

durbnpoisn: I too had a Canadian cab driver rip me off. I went from Toronto to the airport. I didn't feel like doing the currenc conversion in my head, at the time I think it was $.75 C = $1 A. Once we got the airport, asked how much I owed him in American dollars. "Oh, it's the same.""Oh, is it?! You just lost your tip."
