(WFAA Fort Worth)   History teacher in hot water after lassoing student, leaving bruises around his neck. Was that wrong? Should I not have done that?   ( divider line

Texas? Yep. What a shock. I wonder if he got paddled afterwards.
Teachers unions contribute 95 percent of their funds to Democrats. Go ahead. blame "right wing" texas. It was a teacher/democrat.

// not that lynching black folk is anything new for democrats.

I'm tired of right wing republicans being tired of how right wing republicans are demonized by ebil liverals.

You've got all the guns and still can't man up.

He said he wouldn't use the lasso anymore.  He asked for volunteers.  He was teaching cowboy history, not lynching history.  The only lapse in judgement really was not getting permission slips before rounding the kids up (okay, maybe having them running was a bad idea).

If the kids had been standing still, or if he really was at that crazy good level of lasso artist where he wasn't going to choke a kid I'd actually argue this was a good teacher.  I bet the kids were loving the lesson.

But, I'm not surprised.  In high school, 11th grade I think, our English teacher (terrible lady, but on this one occasion just fine) was teaching our honors class some old protest songs (We Shall Overcome) and had us stand around in a circle holding hands.  Wouldn't you know it, there was a complaint from some parents for embarrassing us by making us hold hands.  We were going to do a performance for another class, and the holding hands part was cancelled for that.  Hell, I have terrible OCD.  I hate touching other people, but I didn't even have a problem with it.  It's the same group of honors English kids who kept one of the teachers from getting his job renewed, because he was a tough grader.  He figured if you were going to get the GPA adjustment for taking honors classes you were going to have to actually do A work to get an A.  Best English teacher I had in high school and he was one and done at the school.

In college I had a teacher try to get me and the girl sitting next to mean to take the positions of Leda and the Swan on the front desk.  I half think she was trying to push me along.  I was always flirting with the girl, but she had made it clear she had a boyfriend.  It was kind of awkward.

(I should point out that at the time I had long hair and a beard.  I've seen pictures of statues of Zeus, where, in my younger, skinnier days, there was quite a resemblance... and the young lady did have a very delicate, long neck.)
