I'm calling bullshiat, since the character has been officially identified elsewhere as "Time Turner", plus after all their cease and desist stuff with fighting is magic, there's no way Hasbro is going to risk the BBC coming down on them for something with "Doctor Who" in it.

/now where's the Third Doctor pony figure?

It's not an official Hasbro release, which means that it'll be MUCH better quality.

One of our kids got a bunch of Dr. Whooves merchandise for christmas, apparently a relative purchased several pieces from Hot Topic and/or Spencer's.

Yeah, because "Time Turner" is so much less likely to resort in copyright lawsuits...

This adult male obsession with my little ponies is creepy as all hell. You need to quit you are making my niece cry and giving her an unhealthy aversion for bearded men.

On second thought keep it up, i don't want to see the 80s facial hair style make a come back with the tweens.

I have this company's "Derpy". The figures are heavy. They are made from like some sort of wax. I've never seen a figure like it before.

Of course, Hasbro doesn't let people market Derpy AS Derpy, so the box was labelled "I *heart* (derpy's face)". On the Gameloft game, Derpy is called "everyone's favorite pony".

Anyway, I'm surprised they are getting away with Dr. Whooves character.

Aren't there enough places for grown men to sexually fetishize cartoon ponies marketed to prepubescent girls without clogging up the queue?

To be fair I think Fark has always been that way. I do try to enjoy the weekly MLP thread here but the trolls and uptight and insecure macho men always do their best to ruin it. I mostly stick to Equestria Daily for these discussions now.

Honestly?

People engage the trolls too much, which brings them back.

Early on, there were a whole different crop of trolls, who were eventually ignored, and never came back. As soon as the new batch is ignored, they'll go away.

Watch the show and lay off the Brony hate.  Like any fandom, some of the Bronies go overboard but, overall, they're just guys who like cartoons with a good story.  Just sucks for them that Thundercats, Iron Man, or Kung Fu Panda are such awful cartoons.  15 years ago, they were all watching Animaniacs & Pinky and the Brain and I'm sure you were, too.  This is no different.  The only reason anyone feels the slightest bit uncomfortable about it is because MLP is primarily aimed at girls.  But it's the first girls cartoon I can remember that is intelligent, doesn't condescend, has realistic character development, and where the main plot points are more intricate that what they're going to wear to the dance/how someone will let a boy know they like him.

There's already a mess of Doctor Whooves stuff at Hot Topic--has been for over a year, at least.  Nobody's brought the C&D hammer down on them yet.

I think it's because Hasbro doesn't want to get into a messy fight over things done in the same artistic style as the MLP show.  The people who get into trouble are using the actual named (and trademarked) characters from the franchise.

You know, thinking about it, in all of my years of living, liking My Little Pony might just be the most wholesome thing I might have ever done.

Years of doing hard drugs... Did that.
Dressing up in drag and going out to the Rocky Horror Picture Show more times than I can count... Did that.
Triple digit speeds on a motorbike tearing through the redwoods in the dark of the night... Did that. **Yawn**
Attending fundamentalist christian church services... Did that too. This is dangerous and life threatening. Do not do this. One of the few times in my life where I actually felt real butthole puckering fear.
Watching a truckload of Disney films with my mind all shades of farked up on acid, shrooms, and peyote buttons. And who knows what else. Did that. Cosmos was a much saner experience with said drugs.
And to many other stupid things to keep track of.

And now, as I sink into middle age and become boring and obsessed with a good hot cup of tea, I find my self watching ponies. Even weirder, I think a case could actually be made that it has made me a better person. A number of people would swear to it. Hard to be an intolerable INTJ ass when you are grinning stupidly and giggling at pastel ponies.

Yes. There is a pony thread for the latest episode every week and any big news related to the show often gets a thread also.

The Fighting is Magic game being shut down by Hasbro recently for example.

That's not the question, now is it? Would this thread exist without Doctor Who? No. That's why I came in here, because I care about Doctor Who.
