You have to understand that Squatch hindquarters tastes a lot like the most delicious meatloaf you'll ever have. If you release a paper on it's DNA then you'll have the international culinary cartel (ICC)  trying to replicate this flavor in fish. People will become addicted to Frankenfood and the world economy will experience a downfall like its never seen.

(misused apostrophe intentional -or is it?)

I teach a class on controversial scientific theories and I spend the first class period trying to convince the students that Bigfoot is real.  Got lots of evidence- eyewitnesses, photos, tracks, nests and video.  If they are willing to believe in gorillas why not Bigfoot?  Big, hairy guy, lives in the woods- really, no difference.

Havn't had much success.  So much for professiorial authority- kids these days are just too cynical.

Is this the Crazy Biatch that included the Phrase "Angel DNA" in her "scientific" paper about bigfoots (bigfeet?)

Ahh, yes it is,  the angel DNA tidbit is in this article about the loon. http://doubtfulnews.com/2012/11/the-continuing-saga-of-sasquatch-dna/

FTA: Problem two: This is a brand new journal. Was it launched JUST for this paper? Well, this is an interesting and HIGHLY SUSPICIOUS twist. We do not know what the standards are for review. There are no rules for starting up your own journal and calling it "peer reviewed".

Yeah if the creationists can't sneak that one past, you bigfoot kooks don't have a shot no matter how sane you look comparatively.

Well, that's disappointing.

I thought the whole point of peer review was to have the data analyzed, debated, challenged and eventually rejected or accepted by mainstream science.

If they've invented their own journal and peer review process then they've just blown their credibility out of the water.

You mean like all of the Truther journals? Thank the Internet for that.

With all of the cellphones in the world, with all of the digital cameras and video camersa, and the hunter cameras triggered by motion, with all of the hunters and tourists wandering around the woods, nobody has managed to get a clear, believable photograph of Bigfoot and his cousins yet.

There is only one possible conclusion.

Bigfoot is a vampire and can not be photographed, nor do they have DNA because they are undead.

I love that she published this to a journal that was just made up. No one knows where she got the sample, and as far as I know, it is not available for other scientists to test. The whole point is to reproduce the results, and see if it is false.

Bigfoot is blurry in real life.

If you had bona fide DNA sequence of ANY mammal that is monophyletic with humans with any proximity, you would bust your hump getting it into Science or Nature, and they would bend over backwards to publish it...especially Nature.

This is the stupidest thing ever...except the charging of $30 for copies of the article, which is brilliant.

I hope I can still order my squatch t-shirt.

I am a sasquatcher, but I've been worn-out by recent hoaxes and the loooong wait for this paper to get published.

And now that she's published it with her own vanity press publication I'm not impressed.

On the positive side, this means her data will be out there to be analyzed and possibly reproduced by real, actual scientists - assuming any would be interested.

And the high-def video and photographic evidence belonging to other researchers that has been held back waiting for this study can now be released, so that's something at least.

I don't know about the DNA sequence for big foot, but I have a scientific code proving aliens exist.

Google it.  You will be amazed.

So, what is the over under on when one of these 'has to be right' big footers tries to play with his starter chemistry set and actually mix human DNA with some other primate?

I suspect Poe's Law would come into play and parody in that journal would be impossible.
