Comment from BoingBoing: "Little girl hears Bad Brains for the first time".

"Q: How did she know how to slamdance like that, you may ask?
A: Adult slamdancing is dancing like a 3 year old"

The last time I went to a Bad Brains concert I fell over on the dance floor and got a boot to the face.

Good times.  Good times.

A black eye.  And I had a business meeting at 8 o'clock the next day.

Good times.  Good times.

That was fantastic....

CSB

When my daughter was 3 (5 now) I was listening to some slayer (raining blood), she came in the room and started dancing like that and yelled 'I love rock and roll!' and started shaking her head really fast.

End CSB

/does that make me a bad dad?
//later I played A bicycle built for two to calm her down
///Slashies come in threes!

I really have to question the sanity of these parents. How irresponsible!

Everybody knows, When your kid is ready for Bad Brains, you start with I Against I and move up from there.

yeah, I remember the first punk song, Kinks, '74, I was 8

however Depeche Mode (BR) a couple of years later and A Split Second a few years after that really blew my mind.

If the adults at that time could have understood what we were listening to they would have locked us away

Proof positive that early punk was just toddler music recorded at an obnoxious volume, with swear words thrown in.

I'm calling bullshiat on "first time." It had a "Oh great I love this song!" feel about it.

Still a fun video.

I Against I is great, but not as punk, per se.

I still remember hearing The Cure "Lovesong" on the radio when I was 3 on family trips. The keyboards (I think they're keyboards) still unlock certain memories everytime I hear it.

First time I heard the Dead Kennedys I was like...What is this now?  This could just very well be the best music I will ever hear.

Until I heard The Smiths.

I was told by my dad I loved the Peter Gunn theme. I would get up and shake the bars on my crib. He embarrassed me by writing the local DJ where I lived and requested to play that song. The DJ was my friend! Yep, he had fun with that.

Yeah, I'm old.

I'm pretty sure my first exposure to punk was my Uncle lending me the Sex Pistols debut album when I was 14.
Later on I got into Ramones, Black Flag, Wire, etc.

p.s. is Husker Du and Minutemen even punk?
