hulk hogan meat shoes: Grand_Moff_Joseph: 9 bucks is better than nothing.

Oh, and biz owners -- if wages go up, raise your prices.  It's not hard.

So you're in favor of six or seven dollar a gallon gas? Eight bucks for a gallon of milk?

Why would that happen? It's only those who employ people on minimum wage that would need to raise prices in order to cover higher wage payments. Your cup of coffee might cost an extra 15 cents, your pizza an extra 50 cents.

The precedent of an illegal President having been established by the inauguration of Obama, the Republicans now feel free to promote their own illegal candidates.

I believe Marco Rubio is a good man and a fine public servant. Unfortunately, like Obama, he is not eligible for the Presidency or the Vice Presidency because he is not a natural born citizen.

Both Democrats and Republicans have tried very hard to confuse the eligibility issue, mainly by focusing on what the Constitution and the Supreme Court holdings do not say, rather than what they clearly do say.

Being born in the U.S. makes one a U.S. citizen, but not necessarily a natural born citizen, which requires US citizen parents at the time of birth. The Founding Fathers specifically put that requirement in the Constitution to prevent someone having dual allegiance from becoming president.

Marco Rubio was born in the US, which makes him a US citizen. His parents were not US citizens at the time of his birth. Therefore, Marco Rubio is not a natural born citizen and not eligible for the office of President or Vice President.

So maybe the Birthers are just nonpartisan bigots after all.

He talks a lot of shiat when he's on camera, but when he has an opportunity to stand up for what he believes in on a national stage...he just sits there quietly.

If he doesn't have a weapon, he's got no balls.

Marco Rubio was epic - I was watching him reach for his face several times and felt the pain of his dry mouth, but when he reached lunged for his water, that's when I lost it.  I actually thought he might come up with a postive alternative - I knew his speech would have nothing to do with the SOTU address, but when it sounded like a bad campaign commercial, with his increasingly uncomfortable look, I was actually rivetted - waiting for more sweat to form.  Another young buck, lost to the allure of being a Republican Responder.....tragic.  Tragic.

I actually felt sorry for the guy - but so long to El Savior!  Good luck with your Political Resurrection in 20 years.....when people will have mostly forgotten this debacle.

Yeah, he looked like he wasn't read for primetime.  Not a good start if you're aspiring to run for President in 2016.

Didn't Jindal do an essentially same 'dear in headlights not ready for prime time' speech a few years ago? I mean shiat, don't get me wrong, it ain't easy pulling off even a short speech, but these farkwits are supposed to be the 'pros' and spending a couple days rehearsing usually can fix this kinda shiat.

Well, to be fair to Jindal: He actually came off well in terms of his composure delivering the response.  It was the message that was dumb as fark.

This opportunity - to make it to the middle class or beyond no matter where you start out in life - it isn't bestowed on us from Washington. It comes from a vibrant free economy where people can risk their own money to open a business or go Galt completely. That is why I demand the Negro In Chief proclaim, once and for all, his true and irrevocable musliminity and, install Mitt Romney, the next President of the United States, thank you.

That's what I don't get. Why on earth didn't they put the water right next to him, barely out of view so he could  easily reach it without even moving himself should he need it, and use a glass of water instead of bottled water? Taking a quick sip from this setup wouldn't have look so awkward, more natural and professional IMHO. I guess the water was not intended for use during the speech but before and after it and in that case it should have been put out of reach completely.

I think that's the last time we saw a live rebuttal of the SOTU address. I'll be taped from now on.

CorporatePerson: I was sooo unimpressed by Rubio, which is surprising because he actually surprised me at the Republican National Convention.

I was about to ask that!  He was that bad in comparison to his speech at the RNC?

Did he just copy/paste one of Romney's speeches? That's what it sounded like. The sweating and the lunge for the water seemed to indicate he realized how bad he was sucking. I really expected him to try to present himself as something new and different, but he just sounded like the same old bag of worn out talking points the voters rejected the other month.

Yeah, same shiat, different coating of sugar.

2013-02-13 10:13:34 AM

what_now: Man, he's a terrible speaker.

Why does the GOP keep putting terrible people in the gig? Come on, I can do better.

"Romney lost because his daddy was rich and people couldn't relate to him.

Rubio can't possibly lose because he believes all the same things Romney believes, and his dad was a bartender and his mom was a maid and he just paid off his student loans.  Remember how Obama used that line a few years back?  It played so well!  People love someone who just paid off their student loand and now we have a guy of our own who just finished paying his off!  This is too perfect, can't possibly fail."

"Can he speak.  In public?"

"What?  Who cares?"

/Honestly though, Rubio's "core strength" is not having Romney's core weakness.

Nugent is for keeping guns out of the hands or criminals and the mentally ill, as well as imposing tougher laws for people illegally possessing weapons.  He also opposes bans on assault weapons and high capacity magazines.

Obama is for a ban on assault weapons and high capacity magazines.

Now tell me, which side are most gun loving farkers on?

Seeing as how Ted Nugent told the President to "suck on my machine gun" and that Clinton should "ride it into the sunset", I'd say he's pretty mentally ill, which means that assuming Ted Nugent wants to keep his guns, Ted Nugent isn't on Ted Nugent's side.
