rickythepenguin: kronicfeld: False. Jessica Walter.

yeah.  i just watch PMFM last week. god she was hot back in the day.  and love her on "Archer".

A couple months after PMFM was released, it made it to the campus circuit - so I could see it for free at the student union. You'd think I would have been aware of what it was about.

So I took Barb G. to the film, our first date. Since it was early September in the South, I was wearing shorts. I still have the scars on the top of my right thigh where she grabbed me when Walter came out with the knife. Never knew girls' fingernails could cut like that.

The romantic relationship never recovered, but we are still friends and still laugh about walking over to the infirmary to get my leg cleaned and bandaged.

Fano: A Clockwork Orange?

CSB time...
Was involved in an on again/off again kinda thing for awhile. During one of the on times (or maybe the tail end of an off period don't remember), was over at her place to watch a movie. She suggested something neither of us had seen or A Clockwork Orange. Seeing as I wasn't really interested in watching a movie, (nudge nudge wink wink), and if she put on something new we'd end up actually watching it, you can guess which I went with. I have to say making out with a girl while a bit of the old ultra-violence plays in the background has to be one of the more surreal experiences in life.

First date with my current spousal equivalent involved renting some movies and watching them at her place. I knew she was into indie film stuff, and I had remembered hearing positive reviews of a few films (but not knowing anything else about them), so I got:

Spanking the Monkey,
The House of Yes, and
Angels and Insects.

Guess what all three turned out to have in common...

That is why I stick with the basics.  Always take your dates to Pixar films.

miss diminutive: The Dark Knight.

No I'm not trolling. It was such an engrossing movie that my date didn't want to leave to go to the bathroom and miss anything. He was literally twitching in his seat for most of the movie and when he finally decided to go (during the scene where the Joker is talking to Dent in the hospital) he tripped in the dark and fell over in the aisle. I found out after the movie that he actually wet his pants a bit during the fall. He tried to hide the stain but the smell was still there.

There was no second date.

You got dumped by PeePants McGee? That sucks.

Irreversible.

God what an uncomfortable night that was. I could tell how pissed off she was five minutes into the Monica Bellucci rape scene when she snapped at me "shout out 'stick it her pooper' one more goddamn time and I'm leaving." She wasn't bluffing.

I'm still mad at that movie for ruining my chances that night.

Lionel Mandrake: miss diminutive: kumanoki: Eyes Wide Shut.

My father is a huge Kubrick fan so he rented it when it was just he and I at home for the weekend. He turned it off at the masked orgy part...I still haven't seen the end of that movie.

/shudder

I own that movie (from a Kubrick box set) and I still haven't watched all of it.

Well, go rub out a bunch of knuckle babies before watching it and you'll get all the way through.

What no "Crank 2: High Voltage" - went so far off  the beaten path from the original Crank movie to me

/wife, then girlfriend, thought by the time it got to the race track seen that I had taken her to a porno
//end of that movie you had to be high for
///hell that would have helped the entire movie

Took a first date to see "kids". So many mistakes made that night.

2013-02-12 03:24:02 PM
I took a first date to see a revival of Andy Warhol's "Trash".  Early on there is a long scene where a woman fellates a guy while griping that he is a junkie who can't get it up.  That paled in comparison to the scene where a woman has sex with a beer bottle, not to mention the violent rape scene.

We dated for about a year.  She was strange.

"The War of the Roses."

What the hell was I thinking?

wellreadneck: The All-Powerful Atheismo: wellreadneck: between the ages of 17 and 22.

God damn teach him to fight back.  He was old enough.

Teach him to fight back? I'm the one who blurted out "That's not abuse, that's an affair".

You are going to hell, and I'm following for laughing so hard at that.

Worst first-date movie for me had to be Sleeping With The Enemy. The date was good, the movie was okay, but my date really wanted to see it and it had already gone over to the cheap cinema. The climactic scene occured with most of the audience chanting "Kill The biatch" (among other things) over and over. We slipped out, and I got rescue sex.

So the worst first-date movie got you laid? What happens on your good dates?

Probably doesn't count but I took a girlfriend to go see Save The Last Dance. She apparently did some ballet as a kid so she was interested in seeing it. After 90 minutes of awful film, she had nothing else to say for the whole night except complaints about the technical inaccuracies. Among other things, she didn't get how a girl who wants to get into Juliard can't fake her way through a dance at a club.

There was no poon that night. I went to bed first.

These movies should have made the list:
Audition
I Spit On Your Grave
American X
Requiem For A Dream
American Psycho

Same thing without the possibility of death by mob.

sinanju: enry: First date with my now wife was "Jacob's Ladder".

I forget why we each wanted to see it.

Not a good first date movie, but I do love that film.  Elizabeth Pena was so hot.  Well... until...

kid_icarus: Not a single Adam Sandler film on the whole list? I call shenanigans.

They're on another list, sixteen of the worst possible movies to watch on a date.

Took a date to The Fellowship of the Ring.
She said it was good but they left a lot of things unresolved.  I really couldn't argue the point.

But there it was.

Does it really matter what film you see? If you like each other, any movie should do.

I don't understand the set of hoops the "date movie" must pass through. Unless you're there as part of some ChristianSingles.com hoverhand extravaganza type affair, if things go well, you'll both be swapping bodily fluids and violating each other later on in the evening. But somehow the entertainment in the darkened Foreplay Room must be completely inoffensive and noncontroversial.

I once took a chick to the horrible Planet of the Apes remake, not because I carefully weighed the possible content of the film production we were about to see (though had I thought about it, it might have been useful as a lead-in to how okay with abortions I am), but because it was a couple of hours in a darkened room where we didn't have to make awkward conversation and we could start to address why were both hanging out that evening in the first place.

Perhaps I'm crass and unromantic, but if someone's sensibilities are such that seeing a boob or an act of violence in a dramatic production makes them forget that they want to f*ck, you probably shouldn't be on a date with them anyway.

2013-02-12 04:14:21 PM
anything starring Rocco Siffredi

We took our kid to see that and the guy in front of us said something like, "that's a weird way to end it." Even the eight-year-old laughed right in his face. I was so proud.

2013-02-12 04:18:39 PM
I took a few girls to see Episode 1. Mostly because it was a date but the movie was so boring we could make out for a while and not miss anything.

2013-02-12 04:19:13 PM
Dante's Peak
Godzilla

Terrible date movies, but we knew it was kismet when afterwards we just totally ripped into both movies for being awful. Elektra was the one she's still mad at me for. That one was so bad I couldn't even muster a decent Tom Servo impression.

2013-02-12 04:19:36 PM
First Date: The other sister.

Still married to her, 13 years later. I made her go see Ted with me last year. Now, we're even.

No Dead Girl?

No salo?

wiredmaverick: No love for Dead Ringers?

Dead Ringers.  Watched that the very same day that my girlfriend had "a procedure" for endometriosis.  Roommate had rented it and left it in the VCR.  We got home from the hospital and were in the mood to just curl up on the couch and watch a film.  It was painfully uncomfortable, but it was so inappropriate that by the time the "devices" were shown we both started laughing and couldn't stop.  Never should have lost that one.

2013-02-12 05:04:36 PM
No The Human Centipede?

2013-02-12 05:08:35 PM
I think I have only had two first date movies. I'm more of the let's meet up at the bar and talk kind.

But one of these days I'll have to see the last 70 minutes of A Knight's Tale.

2013-02-12 05:15:15 PM
Movies make terrible date activities.    Go to dinner. Go do something where you interact with each other. Sitting silently next to someone is best left until you're married and bored.

2013-02-12 05:28:08 PM
I Spit on Your Grave. Jesus, what a movie monstrosity THAT is ...

2013-02-12 05:28:33 PM

Shadowtag: Dante's Peak
Godzilla

Dante's Peak wasn't as bad as Volcano at least.

I know what a movie is, but what's a date?

2013-02-12 05:34:16 PM

Gunderson: Don't forget to have some buttered rolls while watching the second one

Came in to say Teeth. Also Hard Candy and An American Crime.

Last Tango wouldn't be too bad. The date's reaction might give you an idea of what to expect later.
