Ooooh, i get it.

i think i read in SI or some magazine a quote where just after the accident happened, he blacked out and then when he wakes up on the ground, he sees his foot inches away from his head and he's like, "uhh...oh shiat.  that's not supposed to be there."

That Bulls team he was drafted by and assimilated into was literally the worse possible team for a relatively squeaky-clean Dukie to go to. Maybe he wasn't that great of a basketball player to begin with, but it takes a special human being to motivate and gel with a collection of lazy stoners and terrible attitudes.

/unless you're a lazy stoner with a terrible attitude yourself

This smells like BS.

TFA: "Sometimes, he pushed the bike past 120 miles per hour...Williams again revved the engine, only this time, the motorcycle surged forward unexpectedly, shot like a bullet from a gun. The front wheel lifted off the ground for an accidental wheelie."

Williams: "I'm flying. I'm going 50, 60 miles an hour. As I look up, I see a utility pole, and I couldn't turn the bike and get out of the way."

I'm supposed to believe an experienced R6 driver with ONE hand on the throttle and ZERO hands on the clutch got this bike to move forward? And then he accidentally rode a wheelie at 60 mph? Which is "flying" to a guy who regularly was pushing 120? I've been riding 600s for almost 10 years and this smells like a dumbass who screwed up and wants people to think he didn't pull that wheelie on purpose.

Correction, it didn't say one hand. I thought it did. Either way, we are being asked to believe that he revved the engine to hear it purr roar and then popped the clutch, thinking it was in neutral? That seems like a very silly and unlikely chain of events.

Not feeling sorry...  At the end, they talk about him pulling up in his S550 MB and the fact that he saved most of the money he got in his short career.  Let me sit here and enjoy the dulcet tones of the world's smallest violin playing a tune for him.

Jesus christ, do you have some kind of racism antenna hyper tuned that picks up any perceived racial slight anywhere, including the sports tab, so you can point it out and defend those supposedly affronted?

Didn't care much for him in college but a humbled man is one who understands the gift of life. He's a pretty good commentator in my mind regardless.

I got the feeling he want looking for anyone to feel sorry for him. It seemed more like he was just telling his story, and why not?

Am I the only one sick of headlines like this? Expecting me to spend time practicing spelling is the equivalent of TL;DR.

You're right. More headlines should be identical to that of the original article or have glaring grammatical mistakes and typos. Having to process letters and words into complete thoughts is for jackasses.

That's the the only other option and obviously is, in fact, what I was calling for. So thank you for your support!

It was sad that his career ended in tragedy, like Bobby Hurley, instead of ending as it should have: with him being shamed for being ANOTHER overrated Duke grad.

Unless you're Grant Hill or Elton Brand (okay, maybe Battier and a couple others), go away. We're tired of hearing about you.

And I question whether "every day" someone basically confronts the guy and calls him an idiot.

I hear Drew Curtis hates Duke so I hate Duke too. Also, disable your adblock so he can feed his squirrel.

To be fair, "revved the engine to hear it purr, thinking it was in neutral" is the automobile equivalent of "pointed the barrel at his friend and pulled the trigger, thinking it wasn't loaded".

It doesn't actually make him sound like any  less of an irresponsible jackass that doesn't know how to handle his stuff, basically.  No one with any respect for heavy equipment (including a motorbike, they're heavy equipment on momentum grounds even if you can lift them with one man) puts their rpm over what they actually need for what they're doing unless they're kind of an idiot.  Or I guess challenging someone to an impromptu drag race, but I repeat myself.
