the fact that one or more of her children were born without enamel on their teeth, should have been treated by her, and by her family, as a warning,

How the hell does that happen. Most kids arn't born with teeth to begin with! And I guess these kids were born with teeth that didn't have enamel?!

Kids are born with teeth, just they are in the gums and begin to come down as they age.  I believe the enamel develops in utero and is present once the teeth puncture the skin.

/IANAD though

That's a new one for me. I can imagine that drinking excessive amounts of Coke would fark up your own teeth, but I wasn't aware that it had the side effect of farking up your kid's teeth before they even got any.

You don't get age-related diseases when you die at 45.

on one hand, its silly of coke to try and claim there is no way to link her coke drinking with her death. On the other hand, its idiotic to suggest that coca-cola the corporation has any culpability in this (even some sort of quasi moral responsibility)

As someone who grew up in the rural South, I can tell you the dangers of drinking soda all the time. My parents still drink it nonstop, and would give it to me in large amounts as a child. I could go get as much as I wanted out of the fridge. When I was around 10 I developed a severe kidney infection from all the coke I drank. Some of the worst pain of my life. So yeah, drink it in moderation and don't give it to your kids.

It would be something like if she drank water and she died from hyper hydration, the public water works or bottled water had to issue a warning saying too much water consumption kills

Same story minus the kidney infection. Kidneys are just fine but the waist line wasn't.

Coke is the devil but I still cant kick it. I have to have a couple a day or I get really biatchy. Luck for me and my kids my wife goes ape shiat if she sees one of her kids with a pop. She's not preachy to others but she'll be damned if her kids get it.

If this ever got to trial, I think Coke's lawyers just wheel in 11 liters of Coke Classic for each member of the jury, and say "If any one of you can drink this much Coke in 12 hours without puking or passing out, we'll pay whatever settlement you want."

"Coca-Cola had argued that it could not be proved its product had contributed to Ms Harris' death. "

yeah, right. This is why you never buy or take anything Pepsi-co or Coca-Cola branded. The name by itself highlights how horrible their shiat is, combining Kola nuts and Cocaine in the first place. May as well buy asbestos and chug it, because it's not any healthier than drinking pop.

I bet drinking 2.5 of fluid might have something to do with it too.

My coworker reported to me that he felt a little odd one morning after drinking a grande with and extra shot at 7:30, and a vente with and extra shot at 9:30.   That's  7 cups of espresso.

Wendy's Chili: and the fact that one or more of her children were born without enamel on their teeth

Whoa! Way to bury the lead.

How does that even happen?

I'm guessing her body used all the stuff used to build the enamel on teeth to counteract the acidity of the cola. Considering that she drank 10L a day I'll go on and assume her body needed it all and more, leaving none for the children while in gestation. So every time she took a kid to the dentist for the first time people would notice that the kids teeth were farked up.

Less than a liter an hour?

I'm not saying I'd enjoy it... but I think I could manage it.  Once.

I know someone who had to cut back on drinking a minimum of 4 liters per day after serious health complications. This is a person whose doctor gave him the choice between daily medication or cutting back to reasonable (still more than most people should eat) amounts of terrible junk food and chose the medication. I don't know how this woman was doing 10 liters per day. I guess she wasn't mixing it with the other foods this guy can't say no to.

I assumed it was no big deal.  My brother in law moved in and kept a supply of pepsicans in the house.
I decided to go ahead and drink them instead of my regular fluid.

At my next dental appt, my dentist asked me 'are you even brushing your teeth'.   No more sugar soda for me.

IIRC phosphoric acid goes into your blood and erodes the long bones from the inside (osteoporosis), not surprising the same for high calcium tooth material.

I tell these people all the time to drink more water.  The response is always, "I don't like the taste of water".  It's a losing battle.  The excuse is that they have "soft teeth" and cavities are inevitable.

The Stealth Hippopotamus: Coke is the devil but I still cant kick it. I have to have a couple a day or I get really biatchy.

One thing that has helped me reduce the amount of sugary pop I drink has been seltzer water. My local grocery store sells it in 2-liter bottles (either lightly flavored or plain) for about half the price of a 2-liter of soda. I then mix it half-and-half with juice (cranberry usually) to make a juice fizz - which is nice because it also cuts the sweetness of the juice. Just make sure the water is plain seltzer water and unsweetened; I've come across many varieties of "seltzer water" that have also contained an artificial sweetener like aspartame.

/my coke consumption now is closer to 1 20oz bottle every 2 days or so

I think we can all agree that someone who behaves like this probably has a litany of bad habits and resulting health problems.  Regardless of how we feel about cola products.

I also agree that things like cola that are completely without nutritional value should have warnings.

No one has even mentioned that there are 400 calories in a liter of Coke.  That's 4000 calories daily.  Did she die of gravitational implosion?
