Blah. I wanted a full year behind a healthy offensive line to see what Foles could do.

You'll probably have to wait a whole two games before Vick gets injured or comes down with fumbleitis again.

Eagles are smart; pay vick off for one year, and get out from under the previous agreement through 2016. Chip Kelly is gonna get that guy killed.

Just a back up. That's it. And considering the rest of the league, a pretty good back up.
Most people in Philly won't be clamoring for Vick if Foles has a bad game... or four. In fact, perfect back up qb scenario.

May be the first time in history that Eagles fans will be like "The QB stinks! Send in... wait, who's the backup? Eh, just leave Foles out there. He'll learn."

Foles is awful, there is no way Vick agrees to be a backup. Then again, they cannot fix all the problems with their o-line before next season any almost anyone is going to get buried back there.

The biggest problem with the o-line last year was injuries. It's an above average line if they're healthy.

Yeah, and injuries are so rare in the NFL, a team would have to be really stupid to invest in decent backups for the most important positions on the field.

/Chip Kelly running the Eagles will be one of the more entertaining storylines to watch unfold next season

The line is not Vick's only problem. The line was healthy in 2011 and he still turned the ball over left and right. His problem is he fumbles too much and can't read defenses to save his life. That, and while he can throw the ball through a brick wall, 5 of 10 times, he will miss the wall.

Do you want a team to pay 9 starter quality O Lineman so when 4 go down with injuries at the same time you're left with a good line? How are they going to afford fill the rest of the roster? Sometimes you have a run of luck so bad it's tough to plan for.

/Bitter Polish Adjutant is right, Vick's a turnover machine either way. But having Peters back would help McCoy.

The team would be in much better shape if they went with Kolb in 2011 and fell on their face (probably)

Instead, they keep going with Vick who has proved for years he is average at best.

Another year rooting against my own team I guess. I was prepared to accept Kelly and a 3-13 first season if need-be.

Now he can lick my balls.

I'm not an Eagles fan, but next year should be fun to watch.

I have to believe 2013 is a complete and total throw-away year for the Eagles. They've got nothing. The draft class is below-average and the rest of the division is heads and shoulders above them.

Well, that IS good enough to win a Super Bowl...

Well really if Kelly doesn't feel he can get a 'QB of the future' this year or a strong enough offensive line to keep said QB alive, might as well send in Vick. You only get rid of Vick due to cap space concerns or a favorable trade. Now that the deal has been restructured, the cap space imperative is gone. Now Vick is safe until they need to cut a player to meet max roster requirements.

The NFC is going to be VERY read-option heavy next year. Kaepernic, Wilson, Griffin, and Vick - with Vick and McCoy under a Kelly offense I could see an increase in performance for their RBs and maybe a bit easier defens

I hate the iPhone when the text entry goes away just as I tap near 'submit'.

Anyway - easier defenses for Vick to read on fake options and in general due to the speed of Kelly's O.

Part of the reason NE was so successful was their speed - it forces most defenses into simple packages with less trickery or shifted coverages as well as the standard no-huddle advantage of limiting personnel changes.

I think a big part of the Raven's D success against the Pats and SF was their ability to shift not just coverage but FRONTS on the fly to force some slow down and confuse the QB. One of the benefits of having older guys who've played together. Of course, endurance became an issue in the SB.

Thats why I want to see what Foles can do. Maybe he's not going to be a starter in the NFL, but I'd at least like to see him given the chance with a healthy o-line in front of him so he's not constantly getting hit.
