I don't care how you mutilate your body to deal with your mental/emotional problems as long others aren't paying for it unknowingly. If i was a student there and my insurance plan costs increased because of this new policy i would have words with the university.

Why?

First - it's not mutilation, it's the accepted treatment for a medical and mental health condition that is frequently fatal (via suicide or homicide, but still).  Do you tell people with heart disease due to smoking "suck it up"?  41% of transgender people report having attempted suicide - and that's the ones that *fail*.

/I predict a lot of transphobia here.
//Jokes about Ann Coulter count, as do addadictomy jokes.

Yes i would tell people who have wrecked their bodies due to their habits/addiction to suck it up.

Is that 41% post or pre-op? If it's post-op, then obviously the treatment doesn't work.

I treat it the same way that i would treat someone who though that they were a lizard in a human's body. If you want to tattoo scales all over and get dermal implants to make yourself more lizard like, then knock yourself out. Just don,t expect others to cover the cost of your chemical imbalance.

Except that insurance doesn't work that way - people that ruin their bodies through habits/addictions get their treatments with the same insurance, usually without paying much extra into the system.

As for the lizard in a human's body, that's a fairly offensive, incorrect and irritating analogy.  Also, people that think they are lizards are incorrect, and this can be proven scientifically.  People that are transgender can, however, provide evidence that they are in fact transgender - fMRI's, for example, show far closer similarities between transwomen and ciswomen than they do transwomen and men.

/The One True TheDavid, congratulations.  You're the second person in 14 years of Farking to make it to my ignore list.

Exception Collection: swankywanky: This is good news for my incarcerated business partner's retarded gay niece, who went to Brown.

WTF would that matter?  Sexual orientation and gender identity are two different things.  One is who you want to wake up with, the other is who you are waking up *as*.

you know - if I had been on Fark since 2011, and I was a Total Fark member, and then I saw something that was written to be a little too extreme, I might...just might...want to drop over to google and check it out before I went off on something.
