Being able to use an application to text on your phone does not make you "tech-savvy." I think they probably meant "not-old."

In this day and age I'm still having a hard time figuring out why children with cellphones also require fully-functioning cameras.

But then I'm in IT and know that granting a person more access or power than they requite to do the things they're supposed to be doing is nearly always a mistake.

There isn't a phone out there with *that* kind of resolution.

I'm always fascinated by IT people.

How much, exactly, do you guys watch the internet activity of employees?

I once worked for a radio station where there were no rules regarding internet usage. Our IT guy constantly walked around with an amused look on his face.

SkunkWerks: "In this day and age I'm still having a hard time figuring out why children with cellphones also require fully-functioning cameras."

Because that's what their parents buy.  If there was demand for camera-less devices, they would exist and be purchased.
But since "i'll show you mine if you show me yours" is not the end of the world, they don't, and who gives a rat's ass?

SkunkWerks: "But then I'm in IT"

Oh, right.  You give a rat's ass.  Because you have to listen to the handful of idiots who make trouble for themselves and refuse to take responsibility.  So you've determined the appropriate solution is to remove capability from *everyone*, because then those idiots would call less.

But guess what?  They won't.  Make peace with it.

That's just because you're running the whole operation off an Excel spreadsheet with a broken formula.

For the same reason that in past days and ages children had cameras -- because just like taller people they sometimes like to record images. It's almost like children are just tiny people and often have thoughts and desires similar to those seen in adults.

Bullshiat.  Teenagers are walking bags of hormones that want to hump for humping's sake.  I know.  I was once a teenager, and I dissapointed a good two dozen fathers at least.  A teen with a camera phone or computer in their bedroom is going to be doing naughty things.  And any teen who says different has already figured out the power of lying.  In my travels, the nicer the girl was toward her parents, the more apt to swallow she was.

There already was a tumblr, at least. And the article says that the user can take a photo with the phone, or with another camera.

The app knows if you screencap it, and notifies the user who sent it.

My 15 year old daughter showed me this app, which she was using on her phone.  I immediately made sure she realized that of course there would be ways to recover the pictures.  I think I'll show her this article.  We used to live in Blaine MN and she might know these kids.
