Hey, a legislator who is clueless about how the internet works. Fancy that.

"No one has a right to make fun of anyone. You have a right to speak, but no one has a right to disparage another person. It's not a First Amendment right," he said.

....and never heard of the laws regarding satire.

And seriously, for a lawmaker to not know about Hustler vs. Falwell?

You are a public figure, cheesedick.  You will be mocked and burned in effigy, and your little girl pigtail sensitivities will not be spared the humiliation.  In fact, this calls for a special Photoshop competition to see how badly we can humiliate this humorless, freedom-hating, getting-a-pension-and-free-healthcare-for-life bastard.

Abacus9: PreMortem: There needs to be a law that expedites the removal of these retards from office. Obviously the voters who elect dipshiats like this are also too ignorant to make their own decisions.

I've had an idea for awhile now that anyone running for public office should have to score above average on an I.Q. test and also ace a test on the Constitution. That way, every candidate is actually suitable to hold office. It won't fix the conderpative/libtard divide, but at least they would be qualified to govern, and the voters' can still vote for whom they want. Any way they vote is a reasonable decision.

Nonsense.
Get smarter politicians and you just get better lies.

Can we just get all of the people who are offended by stuff on the internet or worried about it corrupting their children and have them simply not use the internet?  The same thing should apply for those who are offended by tv, movies, music, video games, etc.  If you are worried about being offended by it or having your kids corrupted by it, simply don't use it.  You don't need to dictate to everyone else what they should or shouldn't like/do.  I know, it's a ridiculous notion, but these morality based proposals about multi-media drive me nuts.  Any sort of censorship board like the MPAA or ESRB should violate the first amendment in my opinion.

Oh, yeah, Mr. Politician? Mind if we parse your campaign ads and stump speeches for any disparaging words?

That's a funny comment coming from a lawmaker in a state that allows gay bashing without investigation or legal consequences.

Provide folks with a global system nearly impossible to actually regulate. Develop and give away assorted technologies for digital manipulation. Allow others to post hacks for those more complex programs you need to pay for. Do the same with assorted programs which obscure a users trail and traces. Create free sites on which people may voice their opinions and post images or videos. Allow the creation of other sites which instruct anyone who wants to know how to hide their traces, build bombs, make home made guns and weapons and expose flaws in assorted security systems.

Wrap as much of it as possible under Free Speech, then stand back as the lawyers fight each other to find ways to both protect and attack it.

So, who'd have ever thought this creation would ever be abused and used in ways to harass others that had never been dreamed of before?

Now, nations scramble to try and regulate the nearly unregulatable.

It's kind of like those folks who live in valleys below a leaky dam. They knew it was there when they moved in yet they're always surprised when it breaks and wipes out everything.

Bullshiat - You weren't disparagedyou were made fun of - It's called free speech for a reason!

For some reason I have a feeling that this was part of his agenda. Hmmm no one paid attention to my idea last year, but it's a damn good idea. How can I get people to side with me? *shopped image of self starts showing up online* See fellow politicians, this could happen to anyone at any time, we are even vulnerable to this attack!

Is he proposing that Fark be forced to place boring sponsored links that stay on the front page for days and days with no way to comment on them directly? Cause that would be farking boring.
