How do you keep the natives off the booze long enough to welcome the aliens?

Will there be another race to come along and take over for us?
Maybe Martians could do better than we've done...

Because when I think "warm and peaceful," I think of Glasgow.

Yeah, right. First alien off the ship gets a Glasgow Smile and then it's intergalactic war.

If aliens make first contact in Glasgow, all that time they'd spent meticulously learning English would come to naught.

Would that be a Glaswegian kiss type of warm welcome: "Stitch that, E.T.?"

naughtyrev: Yeah, right. First alien off the ship gets a Glasgow Smile and then it's intergalactic war.

Considering the Glaswegian accent, maybe the greeting the aliens give will be interpreted as "First round is on me."

It all depends on where they land and whether they are Catholic aliens or Protestant aliens.

2013-02-11 10:41:54 AM
I'm sure that the aliens would be received with all the warmth and enthusiasm that Edward II was greeted with when he visited Scotland.

Those guys always head straight for NYC, L.A., or D.C. in the movies I've seen.

I think they only like places that American people can easily recognize.

Don't all those cities have gun control? You see! What if they were to land in Texas... Actually I think I saw that film.

Michael Pataki played Korax, the Klingon who said the Enterprise should be hauled away as garbage.  He would later reprise the role on Star Trek: Deep Space Nine.  Korax was actually one of the good guys by then.  Times change.

Then they'd be safer in Glasgow than if they landed in Wales, where the term sheep-worrying has an entirely different meaning.

IMDB says otherwise.

That photo was from "The Trouble with Tribbles." The exchange between Korax and Mr. Scott's about midway down teh page.
