Same here, except it stopped when we got a new TV that was mounted to the wall. Our previous TV was a CRT Projection HDTV, so it was an easier reach for her.

My daughter had colic when she was a baby.  The only thing we found that would stop her crying was watching hockey.

Of course, one of her first multisyllabic words was "Zamboni," so there we are.

My cats watch me play Skyrim.

They really get into it, too.

Once, when watching a nature show on PBS with my cat, a scene came on with a LOT of colorful birds nesting in a cliffside or something.  Kitty lept off couch and ran to TV, lifted his paw to swat--and the scene changed.

The mystified "where did birdies go" look on his face was priceless.

Not sure if the cat is baked, but seeing as there is a pack of smokes on the table, and what seemed to be an ashtray, this asshole might be smoking inside with pets. Wonder why your cat squints there dude?

video shopped. I can tell by the moving pixels.

5-7 million pets go into shelters each year with 3-4 million of them being euthanized. There's also the estimated 70 million stray cats in the US alone. Not every pet gets a perfect home (or a home at all), so I'm sure a home with a loving person that happens to smoke isn't the end of the world. Get off your high horse.

Little over a year ago, the neighbor's cat adopted us.  She was getting ignored at home, we let her in, gave her some attention...and she dumped her other people.  Morons moved and left one cat with kittens behind (no worries, they found homes), so I'm glad she found us.

The other night, I'm watching Impact Wrestling (yeah, I know).  Cat was not least bit interested in the matches.  But when Hulk Hogan comes out and starts cutting a promo?  She was up on the TV stand brotherrrr, just mesmerized.  Hogan gets done yapping, she's back on the floor bathing.

Can you imagine if the Ultimate Warrior went on a tirade in front of your cat?!  What, with all those neon colored dangly things on his arm and cocaine-induced antics...

Hmm...I think I still have some "classics" on VHS.   I might have to test that!   I thought she was addicted to basketball, but turns out she was trying to catch the "crawl" at the bottom of the screen on ESPN.  Thankfully, no claw marks on the screen.

Seriously, that guy sounds like, and that cat looks like, they just got out of a Cypress Hill concert.

Anyway, my cat loves to watch football. She will stop what she's doing if a football game is on TV and watch. I don't know why she hasn't caught onto other sports quite so much....

Heh...our ex-kitteh Dementia (who unfortunately died too young due to what we strongly suspect were effects from melamine tainted cat food) liked to watch The Rock in the same way--wouldn't pay a whole lot of attention to other stuff on the show, but looooved to watch The Rock, even doing her own kitteh impersonation of The People's Eyebrow.

Cat also used to like to run in circles when NASCAR and IRL were on...and, well, was a special kitty (both in the "awwwww" sense and the "kitteh rides the short bus" sense--I think she seriously gave herself brain damage when she tried to run THROUGH glass sliding doors to get at the ducks on the patio at our first apartment and would knock herself unconscious)...and was the only cat I'd seen who actively watched TV; this actually led to hilarity once when we were watching an ep of "The Crocodile Hunter" (featuring Steve Irwin shaking out his boots in the AM to make sure he didn't step on a scorpion) and Demi proceeded to put a toy scorpion in my mother-in-law's shoe.  (Demi did not like my mother-in-law.)

Our present kittehs are not the biggest television watchers in the world, alas...they'll sometimes pay attention to nature shows or "How It's Made" or the like, and the Coonie will in particular try to Find The Kitten if we're watching anything like "Too Cute" showing baby kittens, but most of the time it's obvious that they prefer the lap (or in the case of the Half-A-Meezer, sitting next to you but NOT on the lap) to the contents on the TV. :D

Started a bad, bad habit a few weeks ago.  Hold the cat in my lap, watch youtube videos.  Search "videos for cats".  There's a ton of aquarium videos, birds at a feeder, stuff like that.  Since ours is an outdoor cat part of the time, she's a hunter.  The bird videos are a bit much for her, and probably put my monitor in danger.  Showing her a talking parrot freaked her out pretty bad.  Of course, I laughed.
