Still don't think we're going to elect a senior citizen in 2016.

Once people realize how big a scandal Benghazi is, I predict her approval rating will drop to 16.5%.

About half the country thinks so, so seeing a 61% approval rating is a bit surprising.

Not that surprising - when someone is consistently attacked via something that most people find unconvincing it tends to bolster their popularity and other (more valid) criticisms of them become sidelined, as any polls on them largely become effectively one issue polls based on the heavily publicized issue.

Eh, its like being the backup quarterback.   Everybody loves you until they put you in the game.

She made some pretty big mistakes over Benghazi and how she handled it.   If she was Pres, she would have much lower approval ratings, regardless if she was doing a good job or not.

2013-02-11 10:01:15 AM
Not a chance. She just resigned as Secretary of State. I can only think of one thing that could possibly induce Hillary Clinton, of all people, to resign a political office: a doctor saying something along the lines of "Madame Secretary, if you stay in politics, you will die." I think the injury and the stress that brought it on, have finally gotten to her. She won't be back, not in that sort of office, anyway.

I do expect her to stay on behind the scenes, though. She's got the savvy to become the Karl Rove of the Democrats if that's the direction she decides to take, and I think she'll be aggressive in pushing a candidate in 2016. But I don't think that candidate will be her.

The polling sample consisted entirely of dowdy middle-aged bureaucrats who only turn the TV on for Downton Abbey and Remington Steele reruns.

I'll never forgive her for decapitating Vince Foster with a sword made in Benghazi. She also gave Jim Henson pneumonia.

She certainly has become more likable and Bill-type moderate over the years.

Benghazi, despite the hard-target praying of libs, will haunt her, however.

I think it went up after her Banghazi testimony. That was one of those instances where the 25-30% of hardcore Republicans think she was losing her cool under pressure and the 60+% of everyone else see the exact same event and think she gave a bunch of assholes exactly what they deserved. Then the Republicans wonder why no one likes them. The same thing happened to Bill when he got impeached.

The most ironic name possible.  A name adopted by Obama to adjust for the intolerance of simple minds.  Used by those same intolerant simpletons to indicate how foolish Obama was to think other people could be intolerant.

Well, she hasn't been a politician for over 4 years, so I think that may have helped that rating somewhat.

I'm still trying to figure what the controversy even is. I feel like conservatives have been stamping their feet, enraged, pointing at it going "Look at it! Its an outrage!" Regular folks look at it as just shrug their shoulders and move on.

Weirdest "scandal" I've ever seen to be frank.

As a long game that may eventually succeed. But if she makes another run for president another approach will probably be necessary.

There is no scandal, no matter how hard they try to make it one.

If she were elected to two terms, she would be the same age upon leaving office as was Golda Meir. Older than either Indira Gandhi or Margaret Thatcher were, though.

"What difference, at this point, does it make?"

Is now acceptable political discourse.  Let's put her in charge.

No more Goddamned dynasties. No more Clintons, no more Bushes and no more farking Kennedys. We fought a war to get out of that shiat. They do? I don't think that's accurate. I see a poll saying 50% think it was mishandled, but that's a far cry from a "scandal".
