Conservatives said the bill, which requires that students opt out of the sex-ed curriculum instead of opting in, is a subtle attempt to teach children about gay sex.

Because we all know that teaching students about communism makes them communists...

Fark you. It took you this long to figure out why you have poor public image and who you're pissing off, and you expect me to believe you can solve a long-term fiscal crisis?

You mean schools are subtley trying to teach kids things about the real world? Oh, the humanity!

If your kids don't learn about sex in school, they're still going to learn about it eventually.  Probably from the neighbor's kids.  Sheltering them from something doesn't mean they're never going to be exposed to it, it just means they're going to be woefully unprepared when it comes time that they DO get exposed to it.

Ban abortions even in cases of rape or incest, allowing exceptions to save the life of the mother.

Yeah, that policy worked out really well for Ireland.

Note to Republicans: if you want to reduce abortions, give women birth control.

Bible beaters can't deliver seats like they used to, and the fiscal conservatives jostling to control the party's narrative are getting increasingly annoyed with having to answer for their idiocy when all they want to do is talk numbers and grift for their benefactors.

"This tax model is unsustainable."

"Yes, but where do you stand on the bill that your colleague introduced to allow rapists to teach their rape babies creationism without interference from the mother?"

"Goddamnitsomuch"

In short, this is bad news for Obama.

Haven't you been hearing the latest talking point from conservatives.  It goes a little sumpin' like this: "Well, my stocks have made me a killing, and now I make a claim to work in some obscure industry (that I've never mentioned anything about in the past, so you know it's a lie) that you would know nothing about, and let me tell you, I've tripled my rates as a result of Obamacare, which is coming straight out of the working class' pockets.  So tell me again why I should be happy, unless you think I should just be concerned with myself. Har har har."

Hint, if you're a Republican, then yes, you should be ecstatic with that situation, as the Republican mantra is basically every man for themselves, greed is good, and externalities should never be taken into consideration.

It's the difference between "Class, we're watching an R-rated movie next week. You need your parents to sign this permission slip or we can't let you watch." and "Class, we're going to talk about a basic aspect of adult human life that will affect roughly 99% of you, and which could lead to massive medical, mental, legal, and financial problems if you are foolish about it. If your parents are so backwards as to think you should be left completely in the dark about those funny feelings you have about each other's crotches and/or chests, they should submit a request to us in writing so that we have some evidence for when Child Protection Services asks about your home life."

There's a way around that.  Instead of calling it "Obamacare", call it "Shoot an Iraqi Care".  Because while the costs of giving another American healthcare are unaffordable at any cost, the cost of the latter is acceptable no matter what.

Hundreds of thousands? You know that we're talking about state legislators here, right? In Colorado they only make $30k - plus a per diem if they don't live in the Denver area.

And they're term limited, so they will never get the chance to keep their cushy $30k job for long.

Fortunately, a (admittedly thin) majority of people seem to not be falling for it, at least on the national level. Having Hispanic/African-American/Female candidates does not equal standing for policies that treat those groups equitably.
